Report by Paula Scott

The first 45mins saw an even contest between the two sides, Matty Robinson and Chris Gumery were a constant threat in front of goal while Craig Johnson stood firm in the Coleshill goal.

Steffano Aronandi was a welcome return to the Coleshill midfield after recovering from a back injury which had kept him out of action for 3 weeks, he added a strong battling approach to Coleshill's game and was a major figure during the first half.

Marvin Johnson was excellent in distribution of his passes but Coleshill could not find the break through before half time they were looking for.

Straight after half time quick foot work from Matty Robinson forced a Westfield defender to commit a foull just inside the box and the referee had no doubt in awarding a penalty to Coleshill.

Matty Robinson calmly shot past the frustrated Westfield goal keeper. During the remaining time both teams worked hard to try to gain the upper hand. On the hour a dubious penalty was awarded to Westfields which left the Coleshill defence in uproar.

Westfield made sure they took full advantage and drew the score level.

Neither side could break the dead lock to take all three points in the remaining time. Carl Adams was pleased with the days performance. "We worked hard and played for each other which is very encouraging. Westfield's have only lost one league game so far this season and to take a point was a good result, even though we would have preferred all three".

WESTFIELDS PAY THE PENALTY

Westfields were held to a 1-1 home draw by lowly Coleshill Town when Westfields missed the opportunity of gaining a home win when they conceded a sloppy penalty and also missed a series of good goal scoring chances in a match they clearly should have won comfortably but had to settle for a 1-1 draw in the MFA game at allpay.park.
There was little to choose between the two teams in the opening half hour but then Westfields missed 2 great chances before the break when Phil Glover headed over the bar in the 30th minute from 6 yards out then Daniel Moon saw a great opportunity wasted when he blazed over the bar from 10 yards with the goal at his mercy.
Westfields’ new keeper Jamie Moore from Stourport Swifts then saved at full stretch from Matthew Robinson before Sam Harrison came to Westfields’ rescue when he cleared a Robinson shot off the Westfields’ goal line in the 40th minute.
Then just on half-time Westfields were denied an opening goal when a Paul Allam volley was brilliantly saved at the foot of the post by the Coleshill Town keeper.
After the break Coleshill Town got the perfect start when Westfields’ defence failed to clear the ball in the penalty area and Mark Hibbard fouled Robinson who was awarded a penalty which he tucked away to put the visitors ahead.
Coleshill then had a chance to increase their lead when Marvin Johnson got in a header which Moore in the Westfields’ goal did well to save.
Then in the 60th minute Westfields got back in the game when Daryl Addis was pushed in the penalty area and Mark Hibbard put Westfields ahead from the spot to put the sides level.
Westfields then enjoyed their best spell and Paul Allam rattled the crossbar with a tremendous shot, then Mark Davis, who had come on as sub for Phil Glover, missed a golden opportunity to tuck away a Paul Allam cross to give Westfields the lead.
Davis then netted a header from a Hibbard free-kick but the goal was disallowed for a push on the Coleshill Town defender.
Westfields pushed men forward but wasted a series of free-kicks and corners and had to settle for a point when a win was really what they wanted.

Westfields - Moore, Harrison, Hunt, Sparey, Jackson, (Evans 46), Moon, Hibbard, Glover (Davis 68) Addis (D), Allam, Addis (J). Subs not used - Day, Harding, Mussell.
