Report by Paula Scott

Coleshill faced top of the league with great vigor and drive, and almost stole the points but did walk away with lots of pride.

Matty Robinson was first to hit the back of Barwell's net after 22mins, Coleshill played some excellent football and had major possession.

Within a further 10mins Matty Robinson slotted the second goal of the day leaving Barwell shell shocked, they tried to fight back before half time but Craig Johnson was in fine form in the Coleshill goal, Stuart Hamilton and Chris Charles battled well.

It was not until the 65th min that Barwell gained a goal back after a penalty was given after Rob Evans handled the ball in the goal mouth and was dismissed from the field leaving Coleshill down to 10 men with 25 mins to go. There was no doubt the decision was the right one but it was a pity for young Evans who was having a fine game.

Ken Charley scored from the spot. Barwell then saw their opportunity and pressed hard for the equaliser which arrived in the 74th min. For the next 16 mins the ball was played end to end with both sides having opportunities which neither could take advantage of.

Ti was to everyone's amazement that the referee decided there was an extra 7 mins of time to be added on. Coleshill tried to keep out the strikers of Barwell but to no avail as Barwell pinched the points in the dying seconds with an Adam Cunnington header.

This was by far the best performance of the season so for for Coleshill, even if it was backs against the wall for most of the game. Coleshill had Barwell rattled however football is a cruel game and Coleshill just about deserved a point for their shear determination, but sometimes you do not get what you deserve no matter how hard you work.

Scorers: Barwell: Kev Charley 63 (pen), 75.
Coleshill: Matty Robinson 23, 37.

Attendance 108

Barwell 3-2 Coleshill Town

Barwell had to stage a dramatic second half comeback at Kirkby Road on Saturday to preserve their unbeaten status in the league this season.
They looked to be heading for their first defeat in 15 games when Coleshill Town took a two goal lead into the half-time break, but in the second half the Canaries showed why they are the runaway leaders of the Midland Alliance. Kev Charley scored from the penalty spot after 63 minutes to pull them back into contention, and then scored a second 12 monutes later the level the match. It was left to Adam Cunnington to score a dramatic last minute goal to earn Barwell what had seemed an unlikely victory at half-time.
