Midland Football Alliance
Coleshill Town 0 v 2 Boldmere St Michaels

Team: Craig Johnson, Chris Charles, Luke Williams, Ryan Scott, Stuart Hamilton, Jason Lanns, Andy Cameron, Liam Givens, Matty Robinson, Ben Porter, Marvin Johnson.

Report by Paula Scott

Coleshill were unlucky not to at least gain a point from this game.

Both sides started well and keen to gain the upper hand, Marvin Johnson hitting the post within the first few minutes of the game.

However it was Boldmere who struck the first goal in the 15th minute after the cross was delivered to perfection causing Craig Johnson in goal to miss time his punch to clear the ball.

Coleshill did battle and try to force their way back into the game, Boldmere's goal keeper was on fine form and stopped both Chris Gumery and Ben Porter from equalising.

More bad luck was to find Coleshill in the 21st minute after a long over the top ball beat the Coleshill defence and gave Boldmere their second goal of the game. Second half saw Coleshill becoming even stronger trying to find a goal to fight their way back. Chris Charles and Luke Williams were more dominant and the introduction of Matty Robinson into the forward line gave Coleshill hope of finding a goal or two.

Coleshill were denied several excellent goal scoring opportunities in the dying seconds of the game.

Carl Adams reported he felt the players had worked hard and certainly on their performance in the second half deserved a point. It was dissappointing to walk away from the game without anything.

Match Report from Boldmere

The Mikes started an important week with a short journey to Coleshill Town. With Sean Butler suspended, Boldmere gave a first team debut to young goalkeeper Lewis Fenney.

Boldmere started the brighter and the first opportunity came after 9 minutes when a whipped in cross from Ricky Baker was saved by Coleshill’s Craig Johnson.

The Mikes continuing the pressure took the lead on the quarter hour mark when a Ricky Baker cross was met by the head of Jason Holmes who guided the ball home.

On 21 minutes, the advantage was doubled when Matthew Hawker crossed from out wide and the ball was tapped home by Lee Osbourne to give Boldmere a commanding early advantage.

Coleshill’s first real opportunity came on 29 minutes when a Liam Givens shot went past the mikes post. Eight minutes later a free kick from Coleshill’s Luke Williams just cleared the Boldmere bar. On 40 minutes Boldmere’s Louis Fenney had to make his first real save of the game when he saved an effort from Marvin Johnson.

Coleshill had the first effort of the 2nd half on 52 minutes when a long shot was saved by Louis Fenney. On 63 minutes Coleshill thought they had pulled a goal back when a shot from Ben Porter beat Louis Fenney in the mikes goal only for the ball to hit the inside of the Boldmere post and the defence soon cleared it away.

Coleshill’s day was summed up on 73 minutes when a shot from Coleshill sub Jason Lanns beat the keeper but clipped the top of the Boldmere cross bar and out of play.

The Mikes with key games vs Westfields on Tuesday night and Whitley Bay on Saturday bought on Andrew Lewis, Tom Law, and Lyndon Weller in the last 15 minutes as they looked to rest legs ahead of the busy schedule. The visitors could have added a third on 81 minutes but an effort Ricky Baker clipped the Coleshill post.

Boldmere St Michaels: Fenney, Swain, Simmonds, Stevenson, Langford, Hawker, Tulloch, McNaught, Holmes, Osbourne, Baker, Subs Used Law, Lewis, Weller Not Used Stone
