Hat -Trick For Johnson In Rout

Coleshill Town's charge up the Midland Alliance table continued in emphatic fashion as they crushed Malvern Town.

Striker Marvin Johnson led the way with a hat-trick.

Coleshill took the lead through Chris Gumery, with Johnson and Matty Robinson netting before half time to make it 3-0.

Johnson added two more after the break, with Gumery and Robinson also adding to their personal tally after the break.

Conor O'Callaghan scored Malvern's consolation goal.

Coleshill boss Car Adams said "I was delighted with the result. It was very one sided. We also had three goals chalked off and had a blatent penalty appeal turned away. Every one of my players on the pitch, including the subs when they came on, was absolutely fantastic on the day. It was just terrific and it meant we could celebrate at our Christamas party in town on the night in style."

NB.
Marvin Johnson's hat-trick was the first since Matty Robinson hit the treble against Tividale in the FA Cup back at the start of last season, 16th August 2008. We need to go back a further season to find a league hat-trick when James Dance hit 4 in the penultimate game of the 2007/08 Championship winning campaign. Brereton were on the recieving end on 26th April 2008.

Malvern were without Captain Paul Edwards, who with the suspended Bryan Craven were in Barcelona, keeper Lewis Skyers who was playing with the blind team, had Paul Ireland and Ashley Pardoe cry off with flu, Craig Williams and Craig Brown injured, and Mik

Coleshill took the lead in the 14th minute when Barry Mclean, the Malvern keeper, saved the original shot but the rebound found Chris Gummery who tapped the ball in and in the 26th minute Marvin Johnson grabbed the first of his hat-trick after the ball had been played across the box, after Malvern had been appealing that two players had been offside when the originally ball had been played up the park.
Malvern were unable to get their flowing football going and were guilty of giving the ball away but the once time they got it together lead to Malvern’s goal. Mason Mansfield threaded a wonderful ball through to Craig Selby and keeper Craig Johnson could only parry his shot and it fell to Conor O’Callaghan who rifled the ball home.
Malvern were pushing for the equaliser before the half time break but Coleshill broke free and Matty Robinson scored just before the break.
This third goal knocked the stuffing out of Malvern and in the December gloom were unable to get their game together in the darkening winter’s night, which was getting colder and colder.
Malvern kept the scoreline at 3-1 until the 65 minute but two goals from Marvin Johnson the second in the 76 minute, both sides with a down run the wing and the ball crossed to Marvin Johnson to tap home.
Chris Gummery grabbed his second of the game with 3 minutes left and Matty Robinson got the seventh and his second in injury time with Malvern just wishing for the whistle to bring play to an end.
