ROCESTER MAKE MOST OF TIRED COLESHILL

A hugely disappointing home defeat for Coleshill Town ensured sixth place is now no longer a mathematical possibility as two soft goals resulted in a painful defeat in the last home game of the season.
The most disastrous start possible ensued as Liam Holt stabbed a long ball past the out rushing Craig Johnson to give the visitors the lead inside three minutes. Rather than becoming disheartened, Coleshill sought an immediate response. Rob Evans came close when chipping a shot just wide of the near post after being fed in by Marvin Johnson. Matty Robinson would go even closer, heading against the crossbar from Recci's centre ball from the right channel.
The equalising goal would come in very similar fashion, all starting from an in swinging cross from the right hand side from Marvin Johnson. The delightful delivery was capitalised on by Luke Edwards, the centre back's header being tipped against the bar by Froggatt, but Robinson was on hand to scramble home the rebounds. Robinson almost immediately repeated the feat, but a deflection saw his shot travel across the face of goal.
The second half saw a considerably heightened tempo as Rocester had the best of the early attacks, Mark Hudson continually troubling the back four, but Craig Johnson was once again very difficult to beat. It was very much a case of the visitors wasting chances as the torrential rain poured down, with Coleshill chances at a premium. Recci saw a wild attempt fly over the target after a probing run in one of the all too rare attacking moves.
The pivotal moment of the game came with just under a quarter of an hour on the clock, as the dangerous Hudson punished Jason Lanns' indecision, latching onto a loose ball on the edge of the area before lobbing over the exposed Craig Johnson to put Rocester ahead for the second time in the contest.
This time round the reaction wasn't nearly as positive, as whilst Robinson and substitute Jon Powis registered efforts on target, goalkeeper Richard Froggatt had an easier night than he could have imagined as a flat performance from Coleshill meant that a superb season is at risk of petering out in the closing stages.

Team: Craig Johnson, Leyiso Recci, Jason Lanns, Luke Edwards, Steve Hakner (Chris Gumery), Rob Evans (Jon Powis), Barry Fitzharris, Steffano Aronandi (Rob Freeman), Marvin Johnson, Matty Robinson, Lewis Moss.

Booked- C. Johnson, Recci, Aronandi, Lanns
