Baker Joiner Midland Alliance
Causeway United 2 v 0 Coleshill Town

Scorers: Will Tibbets (23), Aaron Lloyd (66).

Attendance 48.

WHERE HAVE ALL THE GOALS GONE
Another below par performance saw Coleshill go down for the third game in a row without scoring. Town are a shadow of the side that went on the tremendous cup run and beat Coalville along the way. Hot shot Danny Carter can't buy a goal at the moment and confidence is low all over the pitch.

Coleshill started brightly and if they could have took one of a couple of early chances they had, things may have been different. Matty Robinson hit the side netting, Danny Carter hit a low shot across goal but the home keeper Todd Henderson got a touch as it headed for the far corner and a Dean Baker effort was deflected for a corner. Causeway had shown nothing in return but on 23 minutes James Cooper got free down the left and found Will Tibbets at the far post with an excellent cross which was well directed beyond Craig Johnson. Coleshill strank within themselves and Causeway slowly took control. Ben Stretton hit the post, Cooper crossed again but Johnson just managed to get to the ball before the waiting Aaron Lloyd and Johnson saved from Sam Beasley as the home team looked to increase their advantage. Town rallied as the half came to a close but failed to test the home keeper.

Coleshill came out for the second half with more purpose but were given little encouragement from the referee who seemed to favour the home side. Dean Baker got a severe telling off, but if the official had bothered to look he was only defending himself from some over zealous attention. Matty Robinson went down in the box expecting a penalty but was told in no uncertain terms, to get up and get on with it. In a repeat of the first half Causeway scored again with their first attempt of the half. Cooper took a corner on 66 minutes and Lloyd rose highest, unchallenged to head home firmly at the far post, game over. Coleshill tried but to no avail. Chris Gumery drove in a low cross that just eluded the sliding Steve Hakner and Matty Robinson should have gone down for a certain penalty but kept going only to send his chipped effort well wide of the goal, but in reality, the second half was easily forgettable with very little goalmouth action.

Coleshill really need to halt this slide down the table but Stratford on Tuesday will give them little joy and Bridgnorth on Saturday are a very hard working side before the Colemen face Birmingham City in the Senior Cup.

Team: Craig Johnson, Jon Powis, Leyiso Recci, Luke Edwards, Steve Hakner, Rob Freeman (Barry Fitzharris), Andy Cameron, Keiran Fitzharris (Daniel Dineen), Matty Robinson, Dean Baker, Danny Carter (Chris Gumery). Sub not used Levi Bailey.

SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
Aaron Lloyd and Willie Tibbetts were on target as Causeway United beat Coleshill 2-0.
