Monday 3rd January 2011
Baker joiner Midland Alliance
Boldmere St Michaels 0 v 1 Coleshill Town
Scorer: Chris Gumery 7.
Attendance: 70.

Football finally got going again but, unlike Boldmere who looked as though they had had a long lay off, Coleshill were up and at them from the start and could have been three up before Chris Gumery whipped the ball past former Town youth team keeper Sean Butler, with barely seven minutes on the clock. Boldmere slowly came more into the game and enjoyed the better of possession but it was still Coleshill who had the better of opportunities with Ashley Robinson having two glorious chances to increase the lead just before half time. At the other end Craig Johnson had to be sharp and brave to save at the feet of the "Mikes" No9 but in truth he was mainly a spectator.

In the second half Coleshill retreated more and more as the home team dominated possession but Johnson still had very little to do as either Coleshill's solid defence doggedly repelled every attack or the home forwards made a mess of the few clear cut chances that came their way. Boldmere's No12 was guilty of squandering the best chance as his unchallenged header at the far post hit the outside of the post. Coleshill could even afford to miss a penalty when Butler was adjudged to have pushed Gumery but Jason Ramsey's poor effort was saved by the relieved keeper.

If Coleshill had had either Matty Robinson or Danny Carter they may have won this game by more but in Chris Gumery and Ashley Robinson they have two target men who can hold the ball up but are not natural finishers. The rest of the team look solid and are definitely working hard for each other. It is going to be a long second half to the season but Town will be ok, with a comfortable mid table finish the most likely outcome.

Team: Craig Johnson, Jon Powis, Dan Dineen, Levi Bailey, Leyiso Recci, Andy Cameron, Liam Givans (Jason Lanns), Richard Allen, Chris Gumery (Neil Kitching), Ashley Robinson (Jason Ramsey), Tom Wilmore. Sub not used Luke Edwards.
