COLESHILL MAUL MALVERN

Coleshill showed promise for the near future on Saturday against Malvern, an impressive performance ending a run of indifferent form.
Chris Gumery made it two goals in three games with a confident opener when played clean through on goal. The frontman broke the offside trap to round the goalkeeper and slot home for the early lead.
Gumery almost bagged a second just moments later, though this time his shot from a tight angle was cleared off the line.
Malvern's first real opportunity came after twenty minutes, but was more than worth the wait. A long range effort was superbly tipped onto the crossbar by goalkeeper Ian Kimberly. Jason Ramsey enjoyed an opening up the other end, holding up the ball well but ultimately firing over the crossbar.
Dan Dineen worked hard to ensure that the home net wasn't breached before the half was over, blocking two efforts from a corner. Malvern gradually got into the game though, and even had the ball in the net but for an offside flag. Ultimately though, it was Coleshill who had probed the most in the opening period, and were unlucky in the dying moments when no-one could get a touch on Jon Powis' low cross deep into the six yard box.
It didn't take long after the restart for Jason Ramsey to make up for a wasteful first half performance with a shot on the turn from inside the area to double the lead deservedly. The speedy striker was able to grab a personal brace on the hour mark thanks to a fierce run and inch perfect lay off from Jon Powis, as the points seemed all but notched up on the table for Coleshill.
Far from becoming disheartened, Malvern continued to fight, and their task would have been made a lot easier had Ryan Gormley placed his shot on target, though the ball was a foot wide of the far post. Six minutes after Ramsey's goal came a further successful effort as substitute Neil Kitching latched on to a lofted ball into the box to apply the most simple of finishes.
A late push by Malvern failed to reduce the deficit, and a touch of class by a rejuvenated Gumery put the seal on the victory. Killing the ball with a sublime first touch, Gumery lifted the ball over a defender before slotting home to complete the rout.
Though the scoreline was very impressive, the return of two long term injured players in Luke Edwards and Ben Porter to the bench bodes well as a build up of fixtures lies around the corner.

Team: Ian Kimberley, Leyiso Recci, Levi Bailey, Jason Lanns, Dan Dineen, Andy Cameron, Richard Allen, Jon Powis, Tom Wilmore (Michael William), Jason Ramsey, Chris Gumery.
Bench: Neil Kitching, Barry Fitzharris, Luke Edwards, Ben Porter.
Booked: Wilmore, Recci.

Coleshill score five against Malvern..
by Marg Scott

Malvern travelled to a damp windswept Coleshill Town on Saturday without their manager who was working.

They started slowly and were a goal down after four minutes when Christopher Gumery broke down the right and rounded Craig Humphries and fired at goal where Craig Jones on the line tried to clear it but it hit the post and rolled into the net.

Five minutes later Christopher Gumery broke through again but his shot hit the post.

Malvern came into it and first new signing Ross Kendall stroked the ball into the net but the assistant referee flagged him offside.

In the 24th minute Malvern were awarded a free kick on the left of the box and it was played to Leigh Downing who turned and fired from 20 yards and hit the crossbar and Ian Kimberley in the Coleshill goal had to push it out for a corner.

Five minutes later Stuart Hall’s free kick from just outside the area was cleared off the line.

In the 40 minute Malvern got the ball into the net again following a one two between Ross Kendall and Stuart Hall saw the latter fired home but again the assistant flagged for offside.

Malvern went in at half time knowing they had matched their opponents and could easily have been level or even in front

The second half saw Coleshill playing downhill and with the wind increasing in strength and going in the same direction Malvern conceded a second within two minutes of the restart when from a free kick the ball was played to Jason Ramsay who turned and fired in.

Malvern made two changes after an hour but within a minute of them coming on the ball was played down the left and Jason Ramsay slotted the ball home to grab his second and Coleshill’s third.

From the restart the ball was played up to Bryan Craven but he shot wide.

In the 66 minute the ball was played over to the right and with the Malvern defence appealing for offside Neil Kitching slotted the ball home.

In the 85th minute Malvern took a free kick on the half way line to Stuart Hall but he fired wide and within a minute Christopher Gumery broke free and fired home his second and Coleshill’s fifth of the game.

N.B."The second half saw Coleshill playing downhill". All in house match reports favour their own side "rose coloured glasses syndrome" but anyone who thinks Pack Meadow is on a slope definately needs specs.
