LOW POINT AGAINST HIGHGATE

Due to the inconsistent nature of Coleshill's recent form, it was always going to be interesting to see how Town started. It was to be the perfect start too, as an opportunistic finish by Chris Gumery put the hosts 1-0 up inside six minutes. A corner kick was spilt by the visiting goalkeeper, with Michael William recycling the ball at the back post for Gumery to grab his fourth goal of what has been a profitable month.
It was all Coleshill after the opener, as Jason Ramsey had a shot saved from 18 yards before Gumery wasted a great chance, steaming through on goal only to shoot wide of the near post. As Ramsey headed over from an inswinging Tom Wilmore free kick, the visitors were about to make Town pay for their lack of conversion. Parity was restored with six minutes before the break, as Ian Mitchell finished from the edge of the area after what seemed like a simplistic clearance was never made.
Coleshill's miseries were compounded in stoppage time as Highgate went in front against the run of play, a hint of fortune about the goal. A free kick was taken by Craig Gasziewski in an attacking area, the ball bouncing off the woodwork before a header from Scott Turner saw the ball nestle between the posts.
The second half followed its predecessor as an early goal was notched up, though this time it was Highgate adding to their total as Ian Kimberley let Matt Collins’ long range effort escape his grasp, palming the ball into the net as a two goal cushion would be claimed.
Coleshill didn't so much capitulate as failed to start up in the second period, with an early change from Carl Adams looking like a desperate attempt to salvage the game. It was a quiet performance though, with a distinct lack of attacking impotus despite the fact that the sole target would have been to chase the game. Highgate are very much Coleshill's bogey team though, and the game seemed destined to trail off into an away victory.
It may even have been four but for a block on the line from a Highgate corner, with Ian Kimberley making a couple of saves in an attempt to make amends for his earlier mistake. It was too little too late though as Highgate saw the game out to take all three points from Pack Meadow.

Team: Ian Kimberley, Jon Powis, Leyiso Recci, Levi Bailey, Tom Wilmore, Michael William, Richard Allen (Dan Dineen), Jason Lanns, Neil Kitching, Chris Gumery (Ashley Robinson), Jason Ramsey.
