Coleshill Town 3 v 1 Friar Lane & Epworth
Scorers:
Coleshill:Chris Gumery 58, Steve Hakner 64, Michael William 90+4
Friar Lane: Gibbons 70.
Attendance:

The game started as bright as the weather, Coleshill Town forward Jason Ramsey managing to get a looped effort away early on, his back to goal as the ball travelled over the target. Chris Gumery came even closer, clipping the top of the crossbar with a shot from outside of the area. A reminder that the team couldn't become too leisurely in their play came when visiting forward John Chapman was allowed to get the wrong side of the Town defence, outmuscling Levi Bailey before spurning an effort one on one with Craig Johnson, not even calling the 'keeper into action.
Richie Allen was next to test the away 'keeper, a scissor kick from Gumery's drifting cross almost breaking the deadlock. Friar responded with some reasonable play of their own, though the two long range efforts they could muster were never liable to find the net.
With the first half ending goalless, both sides attempted to find that missing aspect from their performances in the opening period. For Coleshill that was their cutting edge, with more direct play needed. Chris Lait saw an early effort soar over the target on the volley, but the opening goal would come on 58 minutes courtesy of a piece of magic from Chris Gumery. On the left wing, Chris Lait managed to loft a ball over into a central position as Gumery snapped the ball up at pace, hammering an unstoppable drive into the top corner. Such was the ferocity of the effort, goalkeeper Jordan Wakeling was unable to properly dive for the ball before it had lashed into the net.
Just six minutes afterwards, and Stephen Hakner made sure the points were all but sealed with the easiest goal he'll ever score. Richie Allen had unleashed a typical shot from 25 yards, the ball tipped against the underside of the crossbar before Hakner was able to tap home from little more than a couple of yards out.
With the lead looking insurmountable for a poor Friar Lane side, Ben Porter was granted an opportunity to notch up his first twenty five minutes of playing time since his injury in October. However, there'd be little room for sub-plots as the visitors pulled a goal back with twenty minutes remaining, defensive errors allowing the clean sheet to be destroyed with Lewis Gibbons on hand to apply the finish Michael William had the perfect opportunity to restore the two goal lead, though he took too long on the ball, the eventual effort a tame affair straight into Wakeling's hands.
William forced a goal line clearance with his next attempt, feeding off Lait's well judged through ball to round the 'keeper before seeing his effort unfortunately blocked. The winger managed to force another effort, shooting wide when it seemed easier to score. Therefore he would have been relieved to see the ball finally breach the net in the fourth minute of stoppage time, when a finish from the edge of the box wriggled underneath Wakeling to finish the scoring, Coleshill picking up three vital points with just two games to go.

Team: Craig Johnson, Loyiso Recci, Barry Fitzharris, Levi Bailey, Steve Hakner, Michael William, Richard Allen (Neil Kitching), Chris Lait, Jon Powis (Ben Porter), Jason Ramsey (Jason Lanns), Chris Gumery.
