Saturday 30th April 2011
Baker Joiner Midland Alliance
Coleshill Town 1 v 2 Willenhall Town
Scorers:
Coleshill: Neil Kitching 17.
Willenhall: Mitch Fellows 30, 63.
Attendance: 31.

In what may be Coleshill Town’s final game before a possible merger, a hit and miss season ended in rather low key fashion as Willenhall Town snatched all three points from Pack Meadow.
Despite their lowly position of third from bottom, the visitors looked to end their campaign on a high, and did so courtesy of a brace from Mitch Fellows, his sixth and seventh goals this month, after Neil Kitching had put Coleshill in front early on. It summed up an average season for the Colemen, who may have achieved a much better league position had resources not been a problem.
The hosts were first out of the blocks in front of a home crowd enjoying their last chance to see their team in action, and after 17 minutes were in the lead. The move started with Neil Kitching, who played Ben Porter through on the right wing. Porter, whose season has been marred by injury, sent in a driven low cross, Kitching getting the decisive touch at the near post to finish a move he started. Porter almost grabbed a deserved goal for himself, but could only poke a shot wide after weaving through the Willenhall defence and into the danger area.
Failure to convert chances would prove costly for Coleshill, as Mitch Fellows was able to equalise with Willenhall’s first attacking move of the game. After a speculative ball was sent forward, Fellows swivelled well to beat Levi Bailey and slot past Craig Johnson to the delight of the visiting army. Fellows was unlucky not to add a second instantly, Johnson saving brilliantly from a one on one position.
It was Jamie Evans’ turn next to provide heroics between the sticks, tipping away at Loyiso Recci looped a header across goal. There was time for one more attack before half time as Coleshill’s post was stricken late on by an effort from range.
Chris Gumery nearly put Coleshill back in front with a flicked effort which evaded the far post, but his effort was one of very few as the Greens looked desperate in attack. One man who certainly didn’t look desperate when his chance came once again was Mitch Fellows, who got goal side of the Coleshill defence, looking to be the picture of calmness as he lofted the ball over Craig Johnson and into the net as Willenhall took the lead which they would ultimately hold onto.
The scoreline would have been quite embarrassing for Coleshill had Craig Johnson not made a string of reaction saves, his brave exploits keeping the visiting frontline at bay, but once again it was a story of missed chances up the other end, as Neil Kitching had a shot deflected inches wide as the pick of the opportunities was wasted. Coleshill Town finish 12th in the Midlands Alliance, though it is unclear what the future holds for the club after this season.

Team: Craig Johnson, Jason Lanns, Leyiso Recci, Levi Bailey, Jon Powis, Barry Fitzharris, Neil Kitching, Ben Porter (Steve Hakner), Ryan Duxbury, Chris Gumery, Jason Ramsey.

Booked: Recci, Powis.

N.B. Very much a De`ja Vu season for Coleshill as the record below shows.
2009/10 W18 D9 L14 F77 A55 Pts63 Pos 8th
2010/11 W18 D11 L15 F67 A55 Pts65 Pos 12th

But what will next season hold? That's anybody's guess at the moment. Will it be Coleshill, or Coleshill & Dosthill or will Coleshill disappear from the non-league footballing map.

This site will in effect close down until pre-season but if there is news about plans for next season, it will be on here as soon as possible.
