Saturday 26th November 2011
Midland Alliance
Alvechurch 1 v 4 Coleshill Town
Scorers:
Church: Rob Freeman 56.
Colemen: Chris Lait 1, Chris Lloyd 30, Danny Carter 37, Richard Gregory 61.
Attendance: 87.

Team: Will Stannage, Barry Fitzharris, Loyiso Recci, Guy Clarke, Craig Gaswieski, Chris Lait, Chris Lloyd, Ben Porter (Jason Lanns), Rob Seal, Danny Carter (Remi Williams), Richard Gregory (Nathan McBean). Subs not used Carl Adams, Steve Hakner.

For the first time in many a year Coleshill used the reserve and youth system the way it is supposed to be used, as a natural progression and ultimately to the advantage of "The First Team". Goalkeeper Will Stannage stepped up from the reserves as regular keeper Paul Hathaway had other commitments. I understand the youth team keeper stepped up to the reserves, well done all! I hope the youth team stopper had a good game as he may be used again as Stannage had an excellent match and made several fine saves.

Coleshill were ahead within 30 seconds! Unfortunately I missed it, still in the bar, but Chris Lait scored. Alvechurch are a young, keen, fit team and gave Coleshill a scare, with as mentioned above, Stannage making some fine stops, but when it came to putting the ball in the net Coleshill made it look easy. (Funny old game after 300 minutes without a goal). Chris Lloyd doubled the lead on 30 minutes when put clear by a quick Richard Gregory free kick, rounded the keeper and finished from an acute angle. Danny Carter only got the one today on 37 minutes but it was a typical Carter finish, a curl over the keeper from the edge of the box. Credit must go to Lloyd for the assist as he ran from his own 18 yard box before passing to Carter.
Alvechurch really made a fist of it in the second half and reduced the arrears with a fine left foot effort from former Town player Rob Freeman on 56 minutes but the three goal advantage was restored on 61 minutes when Carter got to the bye line and crossed to the near post where Richard Gregory was first to react to side foot home. The front two of Carter and Gregory were both soon substituted, McBean and Williams taking over, which was a shame as the two seemed to be forming a decent partnership and the more minutes on the pitch together the better they will be.
Three wins on the trot has hoisted Coleshill up to 9th in the league and confidence is starting to flow again as the Sutton massacre starts to fade from memory but that will be severely tested next week as second placed Westfields visit Town and with Stratford and top of the tree Sphinx to come in December, if Coleshill can remain in the top ten come the turn of the year then they will have done really well.
