Adders bite back to share the derby spoils with local rivals Coleshill
ATHERSTONE and Coleshill played out a thrilling draw as the home side came from 2-0 down to secure a point in front a bumper crowd on Christmas Eve.

​More than 260 fans turned out to watch an entertaining clash between the North Warwickshire rivals.

It was Coleshill who bossed the midfield in the first half and they took the lead in the 16th minute.

Richard Gregory was the goalscorer as he cut inside Dean Johnson and fired a low shot across Courtney Belford from 12 yards.

Dale Farley forced a fine save from Will Stannage in the 27th minute but the visitors nearly grabbed a second on the stroke of half time when Belford did well to tip over a Danny Carter header.

Coleshill continued to dominate after the break and Johnson cleared one shot off the line.

Coleshill soon grabbed a second as Sam Wilson's 18 yard free kick crossed the line after hitting the bar.

The Adders finally began to put a few passes together and the large crowd were treated to an exciting finale.

George Washburne scored his first goal for the club with a shot on the turn from the edge of the area.

Then with five minutes left, Mark Grainger's men grabbed the equaliser.

Tom Weale's throw found Johnson and he advanced to the edge of the area before shooting high over Stannage and into the far corner of the Coleshill net.

Atherstone's decision to play on Christmas Eve was well rewarded with a bumper crowd including many visiting the ground for the first time and several who had made long journeys. However it was Coleshill who bossed the midfield in the first half. They took the lead in the 16th minute when Gregory cut inside Johnson and fired a low shot across Belford from 12 yds. Farley forced a fine save from Stannage in the 27th minute but the visitors nearly grabbed a second on the stroke of half time when Belford did well to tip over a Carter header.
