A late Lait goal nets Coleshill deserved share of spoils

COLESHILL produced one of the best performances for weeks as they bagged a precious point at Causeway.

Coleshill looked very lively early on and Danny Carter went close with a rasping shot in the first few minutes.

A great run down the right wing by Chris Lait gave Causeway problems but his cross was sent over the bar by Nathan McBean.

Coleshill were in control but a quick throw caught Liam Mansell flat-footed and in a last-ditch attempt to clear the danger he conceded a penalty.

The spot-kick was easily converted and Causeway found themselves a goal to the good completely against the run of play.

After half-time, Coleshill continued to press in search of an equaliser.

They got their reward on 80 minutes when a good flick on by Carter played in Laite who ran past the last defender before placing his shot into the bottom corner.

COLESHILL Town boss Carl Adams admitted he must sound 'like a stuck record' after watching his team miss out on the three points at Causeway.

Adams thought that the Colemen dominated their midweek clash throughout but had to settle for a share of the spoils thanks to Chris Lait's 80th-minute leveller.

Adams said: "I could just record my thoughts and play them back week in, week out.

"It was another example of us playing well but not getting what we deserved.

"We are 14th in the table and controlled a game against the side lying fifth but we didn't get what we deserved.

"We were undone by a poor decision in the first half.

"We won a throw-in but the referee awarded it to Causeway. They take it quickly into the box and win a penalty which they scored.

"We pressed after the break and fortunately got the late equaliser which was the least we deserved. It was a very good performance again but we just didn't get the points we deserved.

"The lads deserve credit, though, because even when the decision for the goal went against us, they plugged away and got something."
