Saturday 10th March 2012
Midland Alliance
Studley 2 v 1 Coleshill Town
Scorers:
Bees: Lei Brown pen 9, Paul Dowcett 15.
Town: Allando Davis 85.
Attendance: 57.

Team: Chris Jay, Chris Charles, Liam Mansell, Greg Dickie, Craig Gazieski (Tom Goodwin), Chris Laite (Allando Davis), Barry Fitzharris, Sam Wilson, Danny Carter, Carl Adams (Joe Obi), Steve Hakner. Subs not used Anton Astley, Nathan McBean.

Another defeat but Coleshill played really well and deserved at least a point after a disastrous opening 15 minutes. An even start to the game was ruined as Liam Mansell tried to head the ball back to his keeper, a Bees forward nipped in and was then fouled in the box, a definite pen. Lei Brown converted. On 15 mins Coleshill had an opportunity to clear their lines but gave away a needless corner. The cross was volleyed goalward but Chris Jay in the Coleshill goal made a great save, only to see the ball fall nicely for Paul Dowcett who finished well. Coleshill slowly started to get a foothold in the game after that poor start, with manager Carl Adams, in an unaccustomed striking role, encouraging his team forward. Sam Wilson had a great chance but his powerful shot was well saved, then the turning point in the game. In a sustained bit of pressure Coleshill hit the post and then were awarded a penalty when the referee adjudged a defender to have handled the ball. The referee then consulted his assistant; I don't know why as it was he who had seen the offence and was in a much better position than the linesman, but the official then reversed his decision. Bazaar! At 2-1 at half time I think Coleshill would have salvaged at least a point from this game but at 2-0 it's a long way back.
Coleshill were by far the dominant team in the second half but Studley had plenty of chances to rap up the game in a very entertaining 45 minutes. Coleshill started to run out of steam as all their efforts appeared to count for nothing but substitute Allando Davis gave them some hope with a shot that found the far corner with about five minutes remaining. Unfortunately Coleshill couldn't find that cutting edge and Studley held out for the win.

SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
Studley recorded a vital 2-1 win at home to Coleshill Town. A ninth-minute Lei Brown penalty gave the Bees the perfect start with Paul Dowcett adding a second on 15 minutes. The visitors had the better of the second half but were kept at bay until sub Allando Davis scored what turned out to be an 85th minute consolation.

COLESHILL HERALD WROTE
Studley strike early to beat Coleshill
COLESHILL will have been proud of their performance despite this defeat on Saturday.

The visitors went behind early on as Lei Brown netted from the spot to break the deadlock.

That lead was doubled on 15 minutes as Paul Dowcett finished well to put the home side firmly in control.

Coleshill rallied after that and could had a penalty just before the break after a controversial hand-ball decision went against them.

They did managed to halve the deficit late on through Allando Davis but it was too little too late.
