Saturday 6th August 2011
Midland Alliance
Tipton Town 1 v 0 Coleshill Town
Scorer: Tom Tonks 62.
Attendance: 81.

Team: Paul Hathaway, Oliver Spencer, Steve Hakner, Jason Lanns, Leyiso Recci, Michael Williams, Ryan Duxbury, Ben Porter, Barry Fitzharris, Danny Carter, Chris Lloyd. Subs Sol Griffiths, Terry Carpenter, Jon Farley, Remi Williams.

Coleshill still can't beat Tipton. They have failed to take a single point in seven meetings, but they did come close this time. Tipton are a much changed team from the side that finished second to Coalville in the Alliance last year and, in my opinion, will struggle to finish in the top six this time round. In a dour game with few chances, either team could have took the points but a draw would have been the fair result. For Coleshill their best efforts were a header from Loyiso Recci that was cleared off the line just before the break, and Ben Porter had a goal bound shot well saved in the second half. Tipton won the game when a half clearance fell just right for Tonks who hit a dipping shot high into the net leaving keeper Hathaway with no chance.

Tom Tonks scored in Tipton Town's 1-0 win against Coleshill Town.

Coleshill's campaign got off to a disapponting start on Saturday in what proved to be a poor game of football. The home side went close early but Coleshill could have opened the scoring as Loyiso Recci's bullet header was somehow cleared off the goal line. Coleshill fell behind on 62 minutes to a good finish from Tom Tonks. Danny Carter had a good chance to level with a header which flashed over the bar in the dying seconds but Coleshill were unable to find the leveller.
