Coleshill came out on top of an action packed eight goal thriller at Heath Hayes. Terry Carpenter opened the scoring when he delightfully turned a cross from Jason Ramsey past his maker leaving him with a clear shot at goal. Hayes hit back within a couple of minutes when Waple finished a game of head tennis with a looping effort over Paul Hathaway. Coleshill should have took the lead again before half time but Danny Carter hit the outside of the post from the penalty spot after Barry Fitzharris was tackled from behind inside the box. Hayes got their noses in front just after the break when Geldart swept the ball in at the far post when several Coleshill defenders had missed the cross. Two minutes later it was all square again as Fitzharris took a pass from Carter on the edge of the box and saw his left foot shot sneak under the keeper. After a season of being in and out of the side in any position going, young Fitzharris is finding his feet in the centre of the park and looks a real prospect. Coleshill took the lead again with a typical Carter goal. With very little on, everyone was expecting Carter to pass but with very little back lift he sent an unstoppable shot past the home keeper from just outside the box. There was no let up in the action as the home side scored again within a minute, Hathaway getting his hand to a Waple shot but unable to keep it out. Loyiso Recci restored Coleshill's lead with an unstoppable header from a Chris Lloyd corner and it was Lloyd himself who made the game safe when he turned two defenders in the box and shot left footed across the keeper.
Last weeks scorer Ty Amory shocked the Coleshill management when he walked out minutes before kick off refusing to take a place on the bench.
SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
Coleshill Town climbed into the top four with a thrilling 5-3 win at Heath Hayes. David Waple scored a goal in each half for the home side but there was no stopping the visitors who wrapped up the victory thanks to goals from Terry Carpenter, Barry Fitzharris, Danny Carter, Loyiso Recci and Chris Lloyd. Heath Hayes' other goal came from Chris Geldart.
COLESHILL HERALD WROTE
The best form of defence is attack
Coleshill bounced back from the disappointment of recent cup exploits with a thrilling league win. Coleshill started brightly as Terry Carpenter brought down a cross and, in one move, swept the ball away from the defender before shooting right footed past the keeper to open the scoring. Heath Hayes counter attacked almost immediately and equalised on 25 minutes through David Waple. Coleshill continued to play open attacking football and created several half chances before Barry Fitzharris was felled in the penalty area with only the keeper to beat. However, Danny Carter put the spot kick wide of the target, just clipping the base of the right post. The second half exploded into an open attacking game with lots of excitement and plenty of goals. Chris Gilbert put Heath Hayes in front after a couple of defensive mistakes But Fitzharris levelled after being put through by Carter. Carter then made it 3-2, shooting from outside the penalty area over the keeper into the far corner. Waple equalised a minute later but Coleshill raised their game even higher and scored two great goals. The fourth was a powerful header by Loyiso Recci and the fifth a great solo goal by Chris Lloyd, who weaved around two defenders before firing home. "Heath Hayes is a tough place to go to, so we're delighted with the result," said boss Carl Adams. "It was a brilliant performance from us going forward. Defensively, it might not have been great, but we attacked really well and I'm delighted with the fact there were five different scorers. We're doing well in the league. We're in the pack at the top, which is great."
