Coleshill suffered their worst defeat in..... Well, who knows when! In form Sutton hit ten without reply as Coleshill finished the game a dejected group.

For the first 17 minutes Coleshill competed well and even had a couple of half chances to take the lead but when you are playing a team from a higher league you have to be at your best for the full ninety minutes. Two goals in a minute (17th) killed any idea that the Colemen would get anything from the game, and as their heads went down, Sutton lifted their game and went for the jugular! Sutton were the better team all over the park but their finishing was deadly! Paul Hathaway in the Coleshill goal didn't have a nightmare of a night, in fact he even made some outstanding saves, but some of the strikes were hit with such venum and power that he could only watch as the balls hit the back of the net. Six down at half time then a bit of a restbite as Coleshill tried to restore some pride but four more in the last thirteen minutes sapped the energy and killed the confidence.

Manager Carl Adams has a real job on his hands to lift his team for the visit of Causeway on saturday who will no doubt take advantage if Coleshill are out of sorts again.

COLESHILL HERALD WROTE
Coleshill endure day to forget after a thumping by Royals
Coleshill crashed out of the Birmingham Senior Cup with a heavy defeat at holders Sutton. Six first half goals were followed by a further four strikes in the second half as the relentless hosts showed their class. Yet Coleshill enjoyed the best of the opening stages. Good interchange in midfield allowed Danny Carter the chance to test the Sutton backline, the striker showing neat footwork to create space but firing wide. But Carter's chance proved the highlight of Coleshill's night as Sutton scored twice in as many minutes through Craig Marshall and James Reid. Further goals from Dean Rathbone, Todd Evans, Ben Richards-Everton and a second from Reid had the game won for rampant Sutton before the interval. The second half proved just as difficult. Paul Hathaway produced several good saves but could not prevent Marshall completing his hat-trick in between goals from Matt Dodd and Joel Fuller.
