Boldmere St Michaels 2 v 2 Coleshill Town

Postby Alan Beckett » Mon Oct 17, 2011 2:05 pm

Saturday 15th October 2011
Midland Alliance
Boldmere St Michaels 2 v 2 Coleshill Town
Scorers:
The Mikes: Lyndon Weller 42, Tom Law 43.
Colemen: Chris Lait 29, 68.
Attendance: 65.

This is the third time these two sides have met so far this season and there is still nothing to choose between the sides. In the FA Cup a 2-2 draw at Church Road was followed by a single goal victory for the Mikes at Pack Meadow.

As in the first game Coleshill started brightly and should have scored before Chris Lait eventually found the net just before the half hour mark. Danny Carter held the ball up in the corner before crossing and Lait was first to react sending a flick just past the despairing dive of the home keeper. Sitting comfortably, Coleshill somehow went into the break 2-1 down when the Mikes scored twice in a minute through a long distance shot from full back Lyndon Weller and a near post shot from Tom Law. In a roll reversal, Boldmere were the better team in the second half but Lait popped up again with the equaliser on 68 minutes as Coleshill broke quickly from a Boldmere attack and Lait hit the roof of the net from a tight angle.

The result did little for either side with Coleshill now down to 11th place in the league and Boldmere five places and four points further behind.

Team: Paul Hathaway, Barry Fitzharris, Sam Wilson, Jason Lanns, Loyiso Recci, Tom Wilmore (Steve Hackner), Ben Porter, Chris Lait, Jason Ramsey, Danny Carter (Alijah McBean), Remi Williams (Terry Carpenter). Subs not used Andy Milan, Gary Gasiewski.

SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
Honours were shared at Boldmere St Michaels who drew 2-2 with Coleshill Town. A goal in each half from Chris Laight earned the visitors a point with Tom Law and Lyndon Weller netting for Boldmere.

COLESHILL HERALD WROTE
Coleshill Stunned By A Quick Double But Lait Saves Day
Coleshill had to settle for a share of the spoils from their clash in Sutton Coldfield. Coleshill started brighter and soon had three good chances with Danny Carter denied twice by the home keeper Chris Gibson. He also saw a good shot drift wide of the far post as Coleshill dominated. Carl Adams' men took the lead on 27 minutes when Chris Lait collected a cross and fired past Gibson. Boldmere upped their effort and equalised on 39 minutes with a shot from way out which decieved Paul Hathaway. Boldmere then stunned the away side with another goal two minutes later to go into the break with a 2-1 lead. Coleshill dominated the second half without making the pressure tell. They had to wait until the 68th minute to level things up. Lait created some space for himself in the penalty area and fired home. Coleshill boss Adams said "I think it was a game which mirrored our season so far, to be honest with you. We started the game really well but we are inconsistant at the moment. We have a lot of young players in the squad and that just leads to inconsistency. We show a great deal of quality at times and then suddenly switch off and do silly stuff which costs us. Then we turn it on again. It happened against Boldmere and it has been the story of the season so far. I think we just have to realise where we are as a club at this moment in time. Every game we play we have to try and get the best out of the 15 lads we have in the squad. Sometimes they deliver but, if they are not on their game, there are sides in this league that will punish us. But we are doing fine. We are 11th in the table, just two points off the top six and that gives us a platform to build on for the rest of the campaign". Coleshill face another tricky away test this weekend when they visit sixth-placed Kirby Muxloe.
