SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
Stuart Verrall stabbed home a 87th minute winner to wrap up Kirby Muxloe's victory against Coleshill Town. Kirby led through Lewis Gibbons who scored on three minutes but some excellent goalkeeping from Paul Hathaway stopped Verrall and Brett Darby from adding to the tally. Danny Carter levelled on the stroke of half time but Verrall's late winner was to deny Town a point.

COLESHILL HERALD WROTE
Insult added to injury for Coleshill Town
COLESHILL Town suffered a frustrating 2-1 defeat at high-flying Kirby Muxloe in the Midland Alliance on Saturday.

They got off to the worst-possible start when Lewis Gibbons opened the scoring for the home side on three minutes.

Danny Carter levelled the scores on the stroke of half time.

Coleshill then dominated for long spells in the second half with Chris Lloyd missing two good chances while Jason Ramsay also went close.

They were made to pay when Stuart Verrall won the game for Kirby with a goal in the last five minutes.

The match had added disappointment for Town as they suffered a double injury blow. Chris Laite was forced out early after suffering shoulder ligament damage.

New signing Orlando Davis then suffered a broken metatarsal on his debut.

Coleshill are in the league action on Saturday when they host Tividale.

Carl Adams' men also entertain Kirby Muxloe in the League Cup on Tuesday.

Kirby Muxloe v Coleshill Town

After the escape against Alvechurch last week we move on to play Coleshill at home, the away fixture ended in a 2-2 draw where Kirby were very quickly 2 goals up only for the home to pull it back. Kirby were swiftly in front when Lewis Gibbons shrugged off a challenge on the right and put the ball in past the on rushing Coleshill keeper in the 2nd minute 1-0 Kirby. Kirby had started very well and only some inspired goal keeping kept it at 1-0. This carried on and in the 15th minute Paul Hathaway made 2 great saves from Stu Verrall and Ben Law. This seemed to inspire Coleshill and the started to get back into the game and press Kirby back. The away side was putting Kirby under quite a bit of pressure, but they kept the lead protected and looked to be going in at half time 1-0 up. In time added on a cross was cleared out to the left side of the penalty area to Danny Carter who hit a cross in which quite fortunately dropped into the far corner, 1-1. Half time: Kirby 1 Coleshill 1.
The second half saw Coleshill pressing Kirby back for long periods. Kirby defended very well and kept out the away side, restricting them to long range efforts. The game sparked into life in the 81st minute when a free kick was well saved by Tom Holyoak. The resulting corner found the very impressive Andy Milan who headed over the bar. The game then swept to the other end where Aaron Preston coming on for his 1st game since breaking his foot in the opening game of the season, beat his marker and turned on the edge of the penalty area and fired in a great shot which was again superbly saved by Paul Hathaway. The game was quite even now flowing from end to end. The game was won in the 87th minute when Stu Verrall got above his marker to head in to the corner of the net, to the delight of Kirby’s dug out 2-1 Kirby. Full time: Kirby 2 Coleshill 1.
3 points picked up today even though we still are not performing like we can. This win moves us up to 4th one win off the top. There are only 6 points separating top and 11th in the table. On Saturday we travel to Heather for our local derby, Heather sit in 11th place but just 3 points behind us in 4th, the league is so close at the moment. We then visit Coleshill again in the league cup on the Tuesday night before heading off to Stratford again on the 5th November, I am sure there will be fireworks there.
