SATURDAY 30TH AUGUST 2003
MIDLAND COMBINATION PREMEIR
CASTLE VALE K.H. 4 v 1 COLESHILL TOWN
Scorer: Craig Davies.

Coleshill suffered their heaviest defeat of the season so far against their closest rivals Castle Vale Kings Heath. Town were well in the game at half time with the score at 1-1 but an inept second period saw Vale, who fielded no less than five ex Coleshill players, overrun the visiting team.
Coleshill started with the same team that gained all three points at Shifnal and had Lee Colvin, signed from Bolehall, and Craig Risdill, returning from holiday, on the bench.
Vale got off to the perfect start taking the lead after only 8 minutes, when centre forward Jermaine Clarke somehow managed to head an awkward bouncing ball over Danny Moseley in the Town goal. Clarke was to prove a handful for the Coleshill defence all afternoon but the big, strong striker enjoyed the time and space he was given. Town hit back through the persistence of their own No 9. Craig Davies had a powerful shot parried but he continued his run to bundle the lose ball over the line. Davies has now scored four in five games and is definitely showing he is not out of his depth after stepping up from the AFA league. It's just a pity that more of his teammates are not showing the same commitment or determination. The remainder of the half was fairly even. Lee McCarthy hit the side netting and Moseley tipped over a powerful shot whilst at the other end an Andy Hayward cross was met by the head of Davies but the keeper saved comfortably.
The second half started well for Coleshill Giovanni Finesci shooting over when well placed but on 53 minutes Vale took the lead with a bit of good fortune and almost immediately there looked no way back for Town. Former player of the year Christian Crisp broke from midfield but Jamie Harden got back to tackle, the ball broke nicely for Clarke who took the ball in his stride to firmly shoot home. Coleshill carved out a couple of half chances, Hayward and Dempster just missing out, and a Davies overhead effort just cleared the bar but Coleshill were beginning to get overrun in midfield and on 70 minutes Clarke completed his hat trick when he turned sharply in the box and shot across Moseley into the far corner. A minute later Moseley was tested again but this time he tipped the effort over the bar. Davies attempted to chip the keeper from just outside the box but his effort skimmed the bar and on the stroke of full time Chris Kavanaugh (Former Young Player of the Year) completed the route as he broke from deep to confidently slot past the keeper.

Team:- Danny Moseley, Adam Whyte (Lee Dempster), Chris Gray, Allan Thomas, Jamie Harden, Andy Hayward, Giovanni Finesci (Craig Risdill), Lawrence Shannon (Lee Colvin), Dave Morbey, Craig Davies, Mitchell Thompson.
