Continental Star 3 v 0 Coleshill Town

Postby Alan Beckett » Mon Oct 27, 2003 4:56 pm

TUESDAY 21st OCTOBER 2003
BIRMINGHAM MIDWEEK CHALLENGE CUP
CONTINENTAL STAR 3 v 0 COLESHILL TOWN

Coleshill made the trip to Walsall for this floodlit competition without all of their resent signings. The Cup rules state that all players must be signed on at least seven days prior to the game so the players from Racing Club Warwick were ineligible. Town relied on youth and bit part players and even gave previous Ass Manager Dave Morbey a run out. Tony Gormley put the side together as players showed their respect for the now stood down manager.

Coleshill don?t seem to have much luck against Star over the years and this game was no different. Coleshill were behind after only 4 minutes when a shot was parried by Danny Moseley straight to the feet of a waiting forward to shoot home. Town played well and dominated possession for long periods. They carved out chance after chance but converted none of them as Star?s jinks over the visitors continued. The second half kept to the same pattern but Star looked dangerous on the break and on two such occasions they scored twice more to give the scoreline a flattering look.

Team:- Danny Moseley, Peter Bennett, Allan Thomas, Dave Morbey, Scott Wilson, Tony Gormley, Stuart Howard, Carl Smith (Dave Johnson), Craig Davies, Danny Carter, Mitchell Thompson. Subs not used Scott Gormley, Brett Dalton.
