Scorer: Simon Wczasek.

When you are fourth from bottom of the league three points is welcome at any time but when it comes against your greatest rivals, victory is all the sweeter. In an entertaining game, all along it looked as though one goal would be enough to win and when Coleshill scored in the 90th minute there was no way back for Vale. Both defences put in solid performances making goal scoring chances scarce. Town have now kept three clean sheets in five games as Mick Beadle's new team is starting to show consistancy as they become more familiar with each other.

Beadle made a few changes from the dissapointing draw with Alveston midweek. Chris Davies took up his preferred role of midfielder at the expense of Tony Gormley who dropped to the bench, Pete Hall coming in up front. Gary Falconbridge edged out Danny Nixon wide right and Derek Wilkes took over from the injured Kevin Wagstaff wide left.

Both teams went for it right from the start but most of the action centred on the midfield area as both sides looked impressive in defence. Coleshill had the better half chances in the opening twenty minutes with Pete Hall being denied with a double save and Derek Wilkes only inches away from connecting with a dangerous ball across the face of goal. Gary Falconbridge twice got to the bye line and both times was uncerimonously bundled into touch for corners. Gareth Langford took the later kick and Steve Lees rose above everyone else to plant a firm header downward but with the keeper beaten it was cleared of the line. Vale's main threat came from N0 9 Jermaine Clarke who had scored a hat trick in the first game between the sides. The big powerful forward shot just wide on 25mins to show what he was capable of. Coleshill slowly started to dominate proceedings resulting in some desperate tackling. Twice Town had opportunities from free kicks on the edge of the box, but firstly Craig Davies then Steve Lees failed to trouble the keeper as the efforts sailed over. Castle Vale finished with the last chances of the half as Chris Gee saw danger and quickly got across to clear, and Clarke cleverly made room for a shot that went just wide.

The second half took a similiar pattern with Town in the assendance but Vale looking dangerous on the break. Chris Gee's powerful header out of defence released Derek Wilkes but his effort to lift the ball over the keeper was easily caught and Craig Davies blasted high and wide when set up by Hall. Clarke had the ball in the net from a corner but the Referee had already blown for pushing. Then former Coleshill Player of the Year Christian Crisp burst into life to cleverly run across the box and shoot but his effort went inches wide. The game was in stalemate but Coleshill had one more effort left in them as time almost ran out. Tony Gormley, on as a substitute for the injured Chris Davies won the ball in midfield and released Craig Davies. His shot on the run was superbly tipped over the bar by the Vale keeper. The visitors seemed to have delt with the resulting corner but Gormley again intervened to feed fellow substitute Danny Nixon. Nixon's accurate cross was met by Man of the Match Simon Wczasek who had come up from defence for the corner. His powerful diving header sailed into the back of the net with the keeper well beaten. With time now up Vale were relying on the Referee's added time but as neither Physio had been on the park in the second half there was little of that and Coleshill held on for three valuable points.

Team:- Craig Jones, Chris Gee, Frank Woodburn, Steve Lees, Simon Wczasek, Chris Davies (Tony Gormley), Gary Falconbridge, Gareth Langford, Craig Davies, Pete Hall, Derek Wilkes (Danny Nixon). Sub not used: Jamie Cartwright.
