Wednesday 7th April 2004
Midland Combination Premier Division
Marconi 3 v 0 Coleshill Town

Coleshill were never at the races when they came up against a well organised Marconi team who are on the back of a twelve game winning run. With several players missing due to a Sunday League Cup Final, Manager Mick Beadle struggled to field a team and then when Kevin Wagstaff (thigh strain) and Ashley Downer (dislocated shoulder) both withdrew with less than twenty minutes on the clock, the writing was on the wall. The home team had already had several chances before the departures and PJ Gordon scored the opener with a far post header from a corner. Gordon lobbed keeper Craig Jones for his and Marconi's second and then missed a penalty all before the break. Coleshill played better in the second half without looking dangerous, but it was the home team who created the majority of chances and with better finishing would have had more reward than just a third from Dave Innes.

Team;- Craig Jones, Ashley Downer (James Butterworth), Chris Gee, Steve Lees, Simon Bradbury, Mitchell Thompson, Carl Smith, Kevin Wagstaff (Scott Beadle), Danny Nixon, Craig Davies, Pete Hall. No third sub.
