Report by Craig Hamilton
Chairman Paul Billing promised a shake up following Coleshill's poor start to the season and manager Jason Lanns made six changes to the side well and truly beaten by Tividale last week. It's in defence that the Colemen really need strenthening and the addition of Dominic Reece and Greg Dickie should help and Simon Bradbury has re-signed for Coleshill and his experience will be invaluable. The other new signing, James Travis, was on the bench. As early as this is in the sesaon, this game was surely a six pointer, with the visitors yet to record a victory and Coleshill with only one win under their belts.
It was all Coleshill in the first five minutes as Ellesmere struggled to get out of their own half. Chris Lloyd had a shot saved by the visitors keeper which resulted in a corner and when the ball was half cleared Dominic Reece's follow up shot was deflected for another corner. Ellesmere's first real attack wasn't until the 28th minute when they forced a corner and then had two or three attempts at goal blocked by some resolute Coleshill defending. Both sides were lacking in confidence and it showed as the visitors shot well wide from a good position and then Chris Lloyd picked the ball up on the halfway line, ran at the defence but then his tame shot was easily saved by the Rangers keeper.

Again Coleshill started the second half the better side. Jason Ramsey had a chance to shoot but opted to pass to Lloyd on the edge ot the box but his shot went well over the bar. But Coleshill finally took the lead that their play had just about deserved. The ball broke kindly for Barry Fitzharris but his shot from 25 yards was quality and it beat the keeper all ends up. Ellesmere nearly equalised immediately but with the Town defence static the Rangers forward couldn't stab the ball home when well placed. Rangers then had a free kick that went over the bar before Coleshill increased their lead on 65 mins. A long ball over the top was gathered by Danny Carter and he made scoring look easy as he past the ball into the net, 2-0. A cross from Martin Crawford found Lloyd at the far post but his effort went well wide. Coleshill had the upper hand without looking too dangerous. Substitutes James Travis and Tobias Salmon exchanged passes but the latter's shot went well over the bar, and the same two combined but again Salmons shot was poor this time going wide. In the last minute Salmon finally got a shot on target but unfortunately for him this time the keeper made a fine save.

Overall this was a much better display by Coleshill with the defence looking tighter than it has for weeks. However, there is still along way to go, Ellesmere were a poor side and Town will meet much better opposition in the weeks ahead, but it is a starting point and hopefully they can build on that as the season goes on!

SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
Barry Fitzharris and Danny Carter were on target as Coleshill Town beat Ellesmere Rangers 2-0.

COLESHILL HERALD WROTE
Carter on target as Coleshill's team spirit comes to fore
IN the pre-match build-up to this clash, chairman Paul Billing had called for renewed spirit from his squad.

His appeal paid dividends as Coleshill eased their early season woes with a convincing win.

Coleshill took instant control of the game and were soon putting the Ellesmere defence under pressure without creating many clear cut chances.

The two sides went into the break level thanks to some ditch defending from Ellesmere.

The second half followed a similar pattern to the first half with Coleshill in control.

This time they were able to put the finishing touches to their good work.

They took the lead as Barry Fitzharris hit a fierce shot past Ellesmere keeper Dave Maguire on 54 minutes.

Coleshill doubled their advantage on 66 minutes when Danny Carter ghosted past a host of defenders before flicking the ball past Maguire to wrap up the three points.

Chairman Paul Billing said: "This wasn't football at its best but it showed the players do care and they put everything they could into securing the three points.

"There was a spirit and togetherness that we haven't seen for a while which was taken onto the field of play.

"Players like man of the match Sam Wilson and Chris Lloyd gave everything they could. This should now give us added confidence and hopefully it will enable them to put a string of results together from this point."
