SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE

COLESHILL HERALD WROTE
Hayes horror for new Coleshill boss
IF new manager Andy Reece didn't know what a massive task he had on his hands, he does after this crushing loss.

Coleshill were well and truly beaten by a side also struggling in the Midland Alliance.

Both teams started the game lacking in confidence but the home team took the lead on 28 minutes.

Coleshill failed to clear a free kick and Tom Green was allowed time and space to turn and shoot from inside the box and the ball squeezed past keeper Paul Hathaway.

Coleshill tried to get back into the game but efforts from Barry Fitzharris and Danny Carter were easily dealt with.

Just before half time Heath Hayes increased their lead with route one football.

Green, who was a thorn in the side of the Coleshill defence all afternoon, held a long ball up well and when he passed inside to Chris Deakin, he had time and space to pass the ball into the net.

Greg Dickie had a header cleared off the line and Simon Bradbury skied the rebound as Coleshill looked to respond.

Sam Wilson's free kick was also tipped over the bar as Coleshill trailed 2-0 at the break.

Coleshill played better at the start of the second half and Jason Ramsey's header came back off the bar.

Hayes weathered the storm and then took control again. Deakin ran free from virtually the half way line, past a static defence and easily side-footed home for 3-0 on 83 minutes.

Carter was gifted the chance of a consolation goal late on but managed to fluff the opportunity and Lee Bloxham's thundering shot went just wide.

Green hit the side netting for the home side before Heath Hayes compounded the misery as David Waple swept home from a cross.

MATCH REPORT
If new manager Andy Reece didn't know what a massive task he had on his hands, then he does now! To lose so heavily to a team involved in the relegation battle with such an inept and gutless performance shows that Reece must act swiftly before it is too late.
Both teams started the game lacking in confidence, as you would expect given their position in the league, but with every goal Hayes scored, their confidence grew and Coleshill's just drained away. There was no sign of this mauling early on as both sides struggled to carve out decent chances but the game changed when the home team took the lead on 28mins. Coleshill failed to clear a free kick and Tom Green for Hayes was allowed time and space to turn and shoot from inside the box. The effort looked weak but somehow Paul Hathaway in the Coleshill goal allowed the ball to squeeze between him and the post. Coleshill tried to get back into the game but efforts from Barry Fitzharris and Danny Carter were just catching practice for the home keeper. Just before half time Heath Hayes increased their lead with route one football. Green, who was a thorn in the side of the Coleshill defence all afternoon, held a long ball up well and when he passed inside to Chris Deakin, he had time and space to pass the ball into the net. Greg Dickie had a header cleared off the line and Simon Bradbury skied the rebound, then Sam Wilson's free kick was tipped over the bar but at half time it was 2-0 to the home team.
Coleshill played better at the start of the second half, but to be fair they couldn't play worse, and had they scored in this period things might have been different, the closest they came was when Jason Ramsey's header came back off the bar, but some resolute defending and some poor finishing meant Hayes weathered the storm and then took control again. Man of the Match Deakin ran free from virtually the half way line, past a static defence and easily side footed home for 3-0 on 83mins. Danny Carter was gifted a consolation goal but from a yard out he managed to fluff the chance and although he recovered to set up Lee Bloxham, his thundering shot went just wide. Green hit the side netting before Heath Hayes compounded the misery by effortlessly side stepping the defence and David Waple swept in the cross for 4-0 on 85mins.
Coleshill looked shell shocked and it's going to take a lot to pick them up but surely they can't be as bad as this every week. Barry Fitzharris is now suspended for the rest of the season and Jason Ramsey for the next three games but there is sufficient talent in the squad, just not enough belief!
