COLESHILL HERALD WROTE
Carter is put on the spot but can't rescue precious point
COLESHILL'S last game before the appointment of new boss Paul Casey was a narrow defeat to fellow strugglers Continental Star.

Jamie Pace had several good opportunities for the home side before he finally hit the target on 28 minutes after good work from his captain Davian Hamilton.

Coleshill looked to respond and Danny Carter was denied by a fine save.

The talented striker also hit the post after chipping the goalkeeper.

Coleshill battled hard to get back into the game after half time and were handed a life-line when Chris Lloyd was upended in the box.

Up stepped the lively Carter to take the resulting penalty but his effort was saved by the keeper.

Coleshill camped in the Star box in the latter stages and James Travis saw an effort fly just wide as the visitors slipped to a narrow loss.

Report
So early in the season but this was a six pointer. Both teams will struggle in this league and Coleshill's defeat means they slip into the relegation zone, swapping places with Star. An annoucement is expected Monday on the new manager but whoever takes charge has got a job on his hands. Don't get me wrong, there are some good players at Coleshill, and the spirit is good, every man gave his all in this game, but winning is a habit and Town have lost that habit. There's not many players in the Coleshill squad who have played at this level before and I would suggest the new man should bring in a couple of experienced heads to show the youngsters how it's done. Whoever takes over, I wish him all the best!

This game was like two boxers standing in the middle of the ring slugging it out. Chance after chance after chance went begging especially for the home side who shot on sight, if only a fraction of the chances hit the net both teams could have been in double figures. Star's Jamie Price had several good opportunities before he finally hit the target on 28mins, he had been fed by his captain Davian Hamilton and the best player on show. Coleshill also threatened but the home keeper who had been a joke early on suddenly produced a stunning save to deny Danny Carter and then went on to have a really good game. Carter also hit the post as he chipped the keeper but on this, and other occasions, his luck was out.
The second half continued at pace but Coleshill were thrown a life line with a generous penalty when Lloyd went down in the box. Up stepped Carter but again the keeper made a fine save. No let up, down one end, chance missed, back to the other end, another chance missed and so it continued but Coleshill couldn't find the way through that their hard work deserved, if not their skill. In the dying seconds Coleshill camped in the Star box and Travis finally dug the ball out and thought his effort had earned a point but the ball went inches wide of the post.
Another 1-0 defeat but not a hammering, there is still life left for the Colemen but the rot must be stopped soon!
