Saturday 1st December 2012
Midland Alliance
Coleshill Town 2 v 2 Studley
Scorers:
Colemen: Chris Lloyd, Danny Carter.
Bees: Lei Brown, Craig Hall.
Attendance: 58.

Team: Paul Hathaway, Lewis Bishop, Ashley Bradshaw, Sam Wilson, James Hutton (Greg Dickie), David Tonks (Aaron Hughes), Chris Lloyd, Stuart McNaught, Aaron Dillon (Harry Reece), Danny Carter, Dominic Reece. Subs not used Cameron Jones, Cody Gibbons.

A game of two halves and some questionable refereeing decisions saw Coleshill 2-0 up at half time and looking comfortable, but a disastrous second half saw them concede two goals and be lucky to hang on to a point and also have a man sent off.

Coleshill couldn't have asked for a better start in this six pointer against Studley who were only a point behind Town. Dominic Reece, playing in a more advanced role down the left, fed Danny Carter who saw the unmarked Chris Lloyd at the far side of the box. Everyone thought Lloyd should have shot first time and as he turned inside that the chance had gone but Lloyd knew better as he picked his place with a left foot shot into the net. The following twenty minutes saw little action at either end but Studley slowly started to gain the upper hand although Paul Hathaway in the Coleshill goal remained untroubled. Coleshill defence looked solid but even so, some desperate lunges were needed to keep the visitors out. On 26mins Coleshill increased their lead with a swift counter attack. Lloyd pinched the ball in his own half and ran at the Studley back four. No one could catch him and when he finally crossed the ball Danny Carter was waiting for the easiest tap in for 2-0. Studley continued to have more possession but Aaron Dillon, making his debut for Coleshill on loan from Gresley, almost made it three before the break but his volley from a Lloyd cross went well over the bar.

The second half started in the same vain as Studley played the better football but Coleshill had the better chances. Hathaway did finally get involved as he dove full length to palm away a shot and James Hutton was on hand to clean up. Then the referee and the assistant on the far side decided to get involved. Mutton and a Studley player clashed in the box, a 50-50 challenge by all account, but the referee pointed to the spot, astonishing! Lei Brown successfully converted the kick. Incidentally, Hutton never recovered from the challenge and had to be replaced with his arm in a sling! Within minutes Dominic Reece was completely took out by former Coleshill loan keeper Sheridan Martinez inside the box but again astonishingly the referee waved play on. Studley smelt blood and they pushed forward. Former Coleshill player Martin Crawford saw his over head kick go over the bar and Brown shot wide. The Assistant Referee gave a couple of corners when everyone thought they were goal kicks, the latter so obvious that the Town players were furious, unfortunately Dominic Reece made his feelings known too harshly and he was shown a red card by the referee after consulting his assistant. On 80mins Studley produced a fine move, not in keeping with the rest of the game, with a fine run down the right, a great cross, a clever step over and a crashing shot by captain Craig Hall to equalise 2-2. Studley looked favourites to go on to win it at this stage and Sam Wilson had to head a shot off the line, Greg Dickie threw himself infront of a goalbound effort and Brown shot high and wide but Coleshill also could have nicked it as the visitors keeper saved a Lloyd shot with his feet.

A draw keeps Coleshill above Studley, but the three points looked in the bag at half time until the referee changed the course of events. It's still going to be a tough season with some games coming up against the top sides, but Manager Paul Casey will take heart from the effort his side is showing, a bit of luck would come in handy!

COLESHILL HERALD WROTE
Coleshill hang on for a point in a real game of two halves
COLESHILL were lucky to escape with a point after a real game of two halves last weekend.

Despite what happened in the second-half, Coleshill couldn't have asked for a better start in this six pointer against Studley who were only a point behind Town.

Dominic Reece, playing in a more advanced role down the left, fed Danny Carter who saw the unmarked Chris Lloyd at the far side of the box.

Everyone thought Lloyd should have shot first time, and as he turned inside that the chance had gone, but Lloyd knew better as he picked his place with a left foot shot into the net.

The following 20 minutes saw little action at either end but Studley slowly started to gain the upper hand although Paul Hathaway in the Coleshill goal remained untroubled.

Coleshill defence looked solid but even so, some desperate lunges were needed to keep the visitors out.

On 26 minutes Coleshill increased their lead with a swift counter attack.

Hathaway did finally get involved as he dived full length to palm away a shot and James Hutton was on hand to clean up. Then the referee and the assistant on the far side decided to get involved.

Mutton and a Studley player clashed fairly in the box but the referee pointed to the spot.

Lei Brown successfully converted the kick.

Within minutes Reece was completely taken out by former Coleshill loan keeper Sheridan Martinez inside the box but the referee waved play on.

Studley smelt blood and they pushed forward. Former Coleshill player Martin Crawford saw his over head kick go over the bar.

The assistant referee gave a couple of corners when everyone thought they were goal kicks, the latter so obvious that the Town players were furious, unfortunately Reece made his feelings known too harshly and he was shown a red-card by the referee after consulting his assistant.

On 80 minutes Studley produced a fine move, not in keeping with the rest of the game, with a fine run down the right, a great cross, a clever step over and a crashing shot by captain Craig Hall to equalise 2-2.

A draw keeps Coleshill above Studley, but the three points looked in the bag at half time – when everything changed.
