Coleshill's pathetic record against Tipton Town was maintained on Saturday as the black country outfit ran out comfortable winners. This is the ninth meeting since the two sides came together in the Midland Alliance and Coleshill have failed to take a single point.
New Manager Paul Casey has a difficult job on his hands as he attempts to overhaul the team and steer them away from the threat of relegation. Initial signs were very good as he brought in some real talent, young lads from his contacts at youth team level but also some experienced players well used to playing at this level. There was a buzz about the place and an impressive performance against league leaders Stratford in their last outing, some three weeks ago, increased the optimism but after a woeful 90 minutes on Saturday, it was a case of, back to the drawing board.
Casey decided on a change of formation and went for a 3-5-2, but it was obvious after only ten minutes that his players weren't comfortable and although they battled manfully, Tipton eventually ran through the massive holes in the defence at will. The home side started far the better but Coleshill appeared to weather the storm and slowly started to get to grips with the game. Lloyd and Weller had half chances, Bishop had a rasping shot palmed over the bar and Coleshill could even have had a penalty as Weller was clearly pushed inside the box but just as the travelling supporters were thinking " a goal now would set us up nicely for the second half", suddenly, bang bang, it was 2-0 to Tipton. A Coleshill clearance was charged down and Penny ran clear, passing for the Dubirat to tap into an empty net and within two minutes Penny slotted in at the far post with defenders all out of position.
The second half just got worse as Tipton opened up Coleshill time and time again. Paul Hathaway misjudged a free kick as it avoided everyone in the box and the stopper could only palm into the net for 3-0. Martin, not for the first time, left his marker for dead and crossed for Henley to head home for the fourth. Poor, poor, poor defending allowed Dubirat time and space and he found the net from an acute angle for number five. The scoring finished there but the chances, for Tipton, kept coming and the final whistle came as a relief for the battled scarred Colemen.
It's Gornal next on Tuesday, no easy task there, then Bridgnorth on Saturday, so no respite but Coleshill need to find some points from somewhere or they are going to find themselves adrift at the bottom. Casey needs to restore confidence quickly and I wish him well. Just a thought, this club has only ever been relegated once in their 127 year history, please don't add to that record!

Coleshill Town are thumped in Tipton
COLESHILL slumped to a heavy defeat at the hands of Tipton.
The opening 30 minutes were a closely contested affair with each side having their moments.
Chris Lloyd tested the defensive skills of the home side's Mitch Plows and Richard Huckfield while the lurking menace of James Travis always looked to profit from any openings in the Tipton rearguard.
Coleshill threatened first and Stuart McNaught mis-timed a run in on the home goal, thus squandering a really promising opening.
Tipton suddenly surged into more positive action in the 22nd minute, Danny Dubidat zipping over a cross for Nigel Penney but he skimmed the Coleshill bar.
Mike Wardle was next to get around the Coleshill flank, arrowing in a cross which Huckfield headed just over.
Coleshill replied and full back Lewis Bishop forced home goalkeeper Jake Woodhouse to concede a corner.
At the other end, Wardle stung the palms of Paul Hathaway in the 42nd minute.
Tipton took the lead just before the break as Dubidat fired home.
With Coleshill still reeling, Penney gleefully rammed in Tipton's second right on half-time.
With Coleshill's early zest and spirit a distant memory, Tipton pressed home their advantage after the break.
Matt Martin guided his curling free kick home in the 49th minute after further impressive build-up play by Huckfield and Penney.
The visitors were now in disarray and Wardle's header made it 4-0 on 57 minutes.
Tipton completed the scoring in the 74th minute as Dubidat drove home his second after Plows had seen his thunderous drive cannon back off the bar.
