Coleshill suffered a massive blow in their quest to pull away from the relegation zone with a heavy defeat to a very slick Stourport team that were visiting Pack Meadow for the first time.
Coleshill were unlucky to go down to a single, 94th minute goal, to Westfields on Saturday, but Swifts deserved this win and on the night could have scored more. Even visiting supporters agreed that Swifts had played poorly in their two previous games but had found their form again against a Town team that contributed to their own downfall. Coleshill were two nil down within ten minutes when Swifts lively forwards kept going as the whole Town defence stood still expecting an offside flag that never came, forcing the ball home despite Paul Hathaway's desperate dive. Todd Evans then gave the ball away under no pressure at all, No9 quickly fed No10 and bang it was in the net, 2-0. Coleshill tried to get back into the game, Chris Lloyd hit the side netting, Lewis Bishop and David Tonks both had goalbound shots blocked, a looping cross come shot from Cameron Jones was palmed over the bar by the visiting keeper but another "swift" breakaway before half time put the game beyond the home side. From their own box Stourport broke with speed and precision passing. The left winger had time to pick his spot and his low, hard cross to the far post was gobbled up by No10, 3-0. It could have been worse as Paul Hathaway made a great save to put a header over the bar.
To Coleshill's credit they never gave up and tried to salvage some pride but it was Swifts who found the net next. No10 found himself in acres of space and he confidently beat the home defence and keeper Hathaway for the fourth. Conner Leek, a second half substitute, finally burst through an otherwise solid visiting defence and showed wonderful composure to lash the ball past the Swifts keeper to give Coleshill a consolation goal. Lloyd had a dipping shot cleared off the line and was then upended by the keeper but to everyone's amazement there was to be no penalty, as Coleshill tried to reduce the deficit but Stourport looked the more likely to score again as an entertaining game on a rock hard pitch came to a close.
Coleshill were expecting little from the three games against top six sides Westfields, Swifts and Saturday's opponents Loughborough but games against sides in a similar position are running out and Town need to graft out some points from somewhere, soon!
COLESHILL HERALD WROTE
It's a week to forget for Coleshill Town
COLESHILL suffered a massive blow in their quest to pull away from the relegation zone with a heavy defeat to a very slick Stourport team on Tuesday night.
Paul Casey's men were 2-0 down within ten minutes and were always chasing the game as a result.
They tried to get back into the match with Chris Lloyd hitting the side-netting.
Lewis Bishop and David Tonks then both had goalbound shots blocked.
A looping cross-shot from Cameron Jones was also palmed over the bar by the visiting keeper but another counter-attack before half-time put the game beyond the home side as Swifts went into the break with a 3-0 lead.
To Coleshill's credit, they never gave up and tried to salvage some pride.
They fell 4-0 down but then responded and Conner Leek, a second half substitute, burst through to lash the ball past the Swifts keeper to give Coleshill a consolation goal.
Lloyd had a dipping shot cleared off the line and the same player was also denied a penalty as the game ended in more frustration for Coleshill.
