Saturday 24th August 2013
Midland Alliance
Coleshill Town 1 v 1 Westfields
Scorers:
Town: Danny Tymon.
Westfields: Jamie Cuss.
Attendance: 60.

Team: Paul Hathaway, Danny Douglas, Dan Dineen, Jack Hulin, Luke Edwards, Paul Goonan ((Declan Kirby), Chris Lloyd, Danny Tymon, Chris Gumery (Jordan Archer), Barry Fitzharris, Connor Leek (Leon Weller). Subs not used Neil Kitching, Dominic Reece.

Westfields have had a couple of good seasons finishing in the top three so Coleshill were expecting a hard game. Chris Gumery had the ball in the net in the first minute but he was obviously off side. Next Gumery was pushed in the back inside the box but he then bumped into the keeper and a free kick was given to the visitors. This was promising to be another good game with both teams willing to play football. Westfields first attempt at goal came in the 17th minute as home keeper Paul Hathaway watched the ball go past his post. Then Gumery glanced a header wide of goal but this was the strikers last contribution as he was replaced, due to injury, by Jordan Archer. Westfields slowly started to take control of the game as Coleshill lost their way. Westfield made a break down the left and a ball came in along the six yard line, Dineen and Hulis between them cleared a very dangerous move. Then Hathaway made a fine save by tipping a dipping cross over the bar and Westfields had a good shout for a penalty from the resulting corner but, against the run of play, Coleshill took the lead on 40 minutes. Barry Fitzharris had a shot blocked but it fell nicely to Archer who was tripped, a good shout for a penalty, the referee waved play on and Danny Tymon took advantage to crash the ball into the corner of the net. Dineen cleared a dangerous cross at his far post, No6 shot over, No8 shot wide and No7 had a goalbound effort blocked as Westfields finished the half on top but a goal behind.
Coleshill, much the same as last week, were not at the races in the second half. Westfields took advantage and dominated as they played some neat football and Coleshill relied on the big boot. Just about every game this season has been highly entertaining with some impressive play on show but this game deteriorated badly. Westfields centre half had been on the edge of trouble all game but two quick yellow cards saw him leave the field and at that point it should have been Coleshill's game for the taking, however Westfield raised their game and within minutes were level. Westfields substitute crossed to an unmarked Jamie Cuss to easily head home on 77 minutes. From that point it looked as if Westfields would take the three points as they looked the more likely to score but Coleshill could have snatched it at the death as Chris Lloyd shot over when in a very good position.
