Six of the best from Coleshill as Gumery shows teeth

COLESHILL produced six of the best as they stormed to an emphatic away win.

Griff actually started well and a raid down the left saw goalkeeper Paul Hathaway race out to intercept but Josh Ruff beat him to it then saw his instant cross cut out as defenders got back quickly.

The Colemen took the lead on five minutes when a simple route one ball over the defence saw Chris Lloyd race through to flick past the advancing Watson for an easy tap in.

Griff hit back but Ruff could only find the arms of Hathaway before Ryan Millerchip headed off the line after Jake Murrall got the ball past Watson.

A second goal came on 15 minutes from a corner on the right which was flicked on by Danny Tymon and tapped in at the far post by Luke Edwards.

Griff had the chance of an immediate reply as the Coleshill defence cleared a corner only as far as Mark Pratt, who hammered a rising shot that cleared the crossbar.

On the half hour, Town increased their lead when Chris Gumery thumped the ball past Watson.

The home side pulled one back on the stroke of half-time as Mark Latham raced through in similar fashion before drilling the ball past the advancing Hathaway.

The second half opened with a further goal two minutes in as a long cross from Leon Weller saw Millerchip and Gumery jump together and the referee pointed to the penalty spot before booking the Griff captain.

Gumery himself took the kick and scored in the corner past Watson's outstretched hand.

Hathaway then had to be alert to save well from a Ruff free-kick, while at the other end a flowing move saw Watson push over a fierce shot from Tymon.

Griff threw on fresh legs and caution to the winds as they pinned Coleshill back for a spell, but got caught on the break when possession was lost and the ball switched through the middle for Gumery to claim his hat-trick as he fired past Watson.

In the final 20 minutes the home side enjoyed their best spell, and a Latham flick was volleyed just over by Naughton before Barrett turned quickly but only found the arms of Hathaway.

On the break, Coleshill netted again with five minutes remaining as they created a superb passing move to find substitute Oliver Casey in the inside right channel, and his fierce shot gave Watson no chance.

Griff completed the scoring in the final minute as a corner from the right was headed home by Barrett.
