Coleshill bowed out of the Birmingham Senior Cup at the first hurdle to Tamworth, but the Colemen can hold their heads up high as they pushed the Conference side all the way. The winner came from a set piece and Town hit the woodwork twice in a very entertaining game on a bitterly cold night.

Jaz Luckie's pace nearly caught out the visitors defence a couple of times early on but Tamworth should have took the lead when a slick move ended with Crossdale sending a shot over when well placed. Darren Byfield was at the centre of everything good coming from Tamworth's play and Paul Hathaway had to be alert to save from Hippdyke who was set up by Byfield. A Dean Rathbone free kick was met by the head of Luckie but his flick hit the outside of the post and bounced clear. Tamworth did take the lead just before the break. Tamworth were awarded a free kick on the D and Richard Baker superbly lifted the ball over the wall and into the top corner leaving Hathaway with no chance.
The Tamworth side all looked comfortable on the ball and they passed and moved impressively but Coleshill didn't look out of their depth at any time. Declan Kirby hit the bar with a left foot shot then Luckie was just inches away from converting a Jake Murrall header, Luckie again made Wren in the Tamworth goal make a save from a neat turn and shot. Tamworth substitute Chris Waldrum got to the bye line and sent in an excellent cross, begging for someone to put it away but Coleshill cleared. Danny Tymon pounced on a loose ball in the box and shot quickly but Wren made a great save. Luke Edwards had to be smart to prevent Byfield from bearing down on goal and Hathaway saved well from Alex Gough. Hathaway made an even better save from Waldrum and Tymon hit the side netting in the final few minutes but there was to be no more scoring in an evenly contested game.
