Match Report
Coleshill put in a superb first half performance a week before their big FA Vase game. Town should have been out of sight before half time but had to settle for a 2-0 scoreline. Chris Lloyd scored with just two minutes on the clock and a very fortunate penalty, initially saved but converted by Lloyd on the half hour mark, was scant reward for a dominant 45 minutes. Inevitably Alvechurch came more into the game in the second half as Coleshill sat back on their lead. Anthony Fitzmaurice hit a once in a lifetime shot that rocketed into the net with Town keeper Paul Hathaway rooted to the spot and then the referee denied the home team a penalty which looked a stonewaller. It was a nervy time for Coleshill and they had to wait until the 84th minute to finally secure the three points when a Dean Rathbone shot took a wicked deflection and landed in the net. But in fairness if this game had finished in anything other than a Coleshill win it would have been an injustice. A confidence booster for the Vase game but also a reminder that you can be found out if you are not 100% on your game. Good Luck next week Coleshill!
