Revenge at Last
On Saturday Coleshill avenged a defeat by Holwell Sports some 22 years previous. The only time the sides have ever met was also in the FA Vase in 1991. On that occasion Sports went through to the next round with a 3-2 win at their ground after a 1-1 draw at Pack Meadow. It's took some time but Revenge At Last!
SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE:
Coleshill Town will join Causeway in the fourth round following their 3-1 win at Holwell Sports. Chris Jibber handed the home side a first half lead but Town raised their game after the break and goals from Matt Brown and Dan Tymon midway through the half turned the game in their favour. As Holwell, an East Midlands Counties side, looked for an equaliser, it was Brown who added a thrird for the visitors in injury time.
Match Report By Paul Billing
Holwell started this game full of spirit and fight and never let Coleshill settle into any kind of play, Holwell closed down Coleshill at every opportunity and played some good football and if you were a neutral you would of thought that Coleshill were the lower ranked team especially in the first half. Holwell threatened and it took a great save from Paul Hathaway to keep them at bay when he pushed a fierce shot wide of the goal. Holwell continued to press Coleshill into mistakes and when Coleshill conceded procession on the half way line Scott Mooney broke, he still had lots to do but he managed to skip past two challenges before firing a great shot into the roof of the net.
Coleshill had hardly had a shot and even struggled to get into Holwell's penalty area until the 70th minute when a superb cross from Dean Rathbone found Matt Brown who had faded off his marker before directing a deft header past the stranded keeper. Coleshill were now slipping into top gear and within minutes Danny Tymon found space on the edge of the Holwell penalty area and shot home to put Coleshill two one up. Holwell were now shell shocked but were able to get themselves together for a late surge they should of equalised but a rasping shot but a fantastic save by Paul Hathaway diving low to his left was able to push the ball on to the post.
Holwell had now committed everyone forward so it was inevitable that when Paul Hathaway got the ball and his quick kick to the feet of Ryan Nash that Holwell would struggle to get back, Nash showed great composure and when he drew the keeper and slid a perfect sidewards past to Matt Brown that the goal machine would calmly pass the ball into an open nett. A great twenty minutes saw Coleshill qualify for the fourth round of the FA Vase for the first time in their history, Holwell will see this as a little unjust because the did themselves proud but Coleshill's quality showed when it really mattered.

Report From Holwell Sports
FA Vase Tough Defeat
By Martin Rooney, 8th Dec 2013
Holwell's players take plaudits for their efforts against Coleshill Town but the higher ranked club stepped up to the mark in the end to see of Holwell.
Holwell's players were loudly applauded off the field on Saturday after their hard work and effort just failed to get them to the fourth round of the FA Carlsberg Vase.
The first half was completely dominated by Holwell, yet again you would have thought the home side were the higher ranked club as Coleshill failed to have one shot on target and looked as though they had given up on the tie as Scott Mooney fired Holwell in the lead on the stroke of half time.
Even at the start of the second half Holwell were still buzzing round Coleshill's midfield and making players lose the ball.
However the match was turned on its head on the hour as Coleshill's Matt Brown was given space in the box and he headed the equaliser.
Holwell were under pressure now and heads began to drop when Tymon put the visitors in the lead three minutes later.
Holwell just couldnt get back into the game and now found themselves with an uphill battle with little time left. Holwell nearly got back on terms when a strong shot from Michael Stevenson was miraculously turned onto the post by keeper Paul Hathaway when the ball looked goal bound.
As the home side pushed up, in the last minute Hathaway saved again and his pin point clearance found substitute Paul Casey who broke away before drawing the keeper then sliding a pass to Matt Brown for the easiest of finishes and a score line that really flattered Coleshill who's fans had all but given up hope at half time.
