Five weeks without a game, Coleshill really needed this run out before taking on current league leaders Quorn on Saturday, and although Manager Paul Casey will be delighted with a 4-0 win, this wasn't as one sided as it sounds.
Coleshill were almost at full strength, Barry Fitzharris and Danny Douglas both missing due to suspension, and welcomed back Connor Leek to the fold. The rustiness showed as Dunkirk started much the better and could well have been 2-0 up in the early stages as both Richard Whyman and Kory Simms wasted good chances. Coleshill took the lead on 19 minutes with their first real chance of the game. Matt Brown and Ryan Nash combined well to leave Brown a clear run into the box and his early shot went across the visitors keeper and nestled into the net. This settled Town down but Dunkirk still dominated possession and looked impressive although home keeper Paul Hathaway was rarely troubled. A one goal lead at half time would have been welcome but with just two minutes to go to the break Coleshill doubled their lead. Brown was fouled on the edge of the box and Ryan Nash nonchalantly lifted the ball over the wall and into the top corner. Half time 2-0.
Coleshill were much better in the second half and as Dunkirk's challenge faded, Town looked capable of scoring every time they attacked. The best goal of the game came on 53 minutes when Leon Weller sent a lovely ball down the right wing for Chris Lloyd who surged to the bye line and crossed an inch perfect ball for the on rushing Chris Gumery to direct into the net 3-0. Minutes later Lloyd did the same again but this time there was no-one there to finish his fine cross. Kevin Lusamba was denied a consolation goal as Hathaway saved his powerful shot with his feet and then with still twenty minutes to go it was 4-0. Lloyd nicked the ball off a defender and saw his first shot well saved by the visitors keeper Jake Want, the ball came back to Lloyd and again he was denied by Want, but the keeper couldn't keep out a third attempt and Lloyd had his deserved goal. Lloyd, Brown, substitutes Dan Holgate and Connor Leek, could all have increased the lead, but the score remained at four, an impressive return to competitive football.

With 16 games to go, a top ten place secured and a record breaking run in the Vase behind them, it would be easy to sit back and say it's been a good season. But this team has so much potential and if they want it badly enough they could go unbeaten for the remainder of the campaign and really get in amongst the top teams and set a new league record for Coleshill!
