THE COLESHILL HERALD WROTE
Coleshill Town chairman hails squad as they make it six wins on the trot

COLESHILL made it six wins on the spin to move up to fifth in the Midland Alliance, just four points off third spot.

Goals from debutant Jordan Nadat and fellow striker Matt Brown sealed victory over Westfields on Tuesday night.

“It’s a great run we are on,” said chairman Paul Billing. “I have always felt that we have a good side here but we are proving exactly that now.

“We had a great run in the FA Vase this season and I think the players here matured a lot during that time.

“When we got knocked out of the competition, there was a fear the season could tail off but actually, we have ended up getting stronger and stronger.

“We do not look like conceding many goals right now and we are playing well in attack too.

“The players are all working so hard for each other it’s untrue and Westfields was a perfect example of that.

“It was a real battle for us physically but the lads dug in for each other and got the right result.”

WESTFIELDS PAY FOR MISTAKES

Westfields’ mini unbeaten run came to an end at allpay.park last night when after 4 consecutive victories they were beaten by promotion hopefuls Coleshill Town 2-0.

Westfields paid for a series of mistakes both at the back and up front in an exciting end-to-end game.

Westfields had early opportunities when Aidan Thomas provided far-post crosses for Brad Birch who just failed to connect to put Westfields ahead then against the run of play Coleshill snatched the lead when Nathan Hayward lost possession on the edge of the penalty area and Jason Nadat sidestepped Phil Glover to put Coleshill ahead with a gift goal.

Saul Halpin then shot wide as Westfields hit back in a swift moving end-to-end game.

In the second half Westfields came all out for an equaliser and Jamie Cuss should have put Westfields level when he cleverly beat 2 Coleshill defenders to find himself through on goal but carelessly blazed the ball over the Coleshill bar with the goal at his mercy.

Aidan Thomas then fired into the side of netting with a low drive as Westfields stepped up their game in search of an equaliser but when Coleshill cleared a Westfields’ corner upfield the visitors caught Westfields on the counter attack and raced away for Matt Brown to score a simple second goal.

Despite all-out effort from the Westfields’ team they could not break down a well organised visitors’ defence.
