Match Report
Eight wins in a row, up to 3rd in the league, a new record of 19 wins in a season, equalling the highest points total, closing in on highest goals total (all whilst in the Alliance)and 100 wins since promotion to the Midland Alliance! What a run and it continues, only nine games to go and who knows where that will take us!

This wasn't one of Town's best performances but they still had to much for a determined Shepshed who belied their league position! On another night, both Matt Brown and Jordan Nadat could have had hat-tricks as Coleshill carved out chance after chance. In reply Dynamo hit the bar twice and, according to their very vocal support, were on the wrong end of some dodgy decisions by the referee!

Matt Brown poked the ball past the keeper but only just past the post, Jordan Nadat shot with his right foot just over the bar and then shot just wide with his left foot but it was Shepshed that were playing the better football on a pitch that was sticky but held up remarkably well considering the amount of rain that fell on it over the last 24 hours. Despite their domination, home keeper Paul Hathaway was rarely troubled and Town took the lead five minutes before half time, maybe against the run of play but deserved on the amount of chances created. Dean Rathbone swung in a free kick from the right and Jordan Nadat, unmarked within the 6 yard box, volleyed into the net!

Coleshill went two up just three minutes into the second half as another Rathbone free kick was only half cleared and Ryan Nash shot through a crowded area into the net. Shepshed upped the pace and the determination but there was very little end product and they always looked shaky in defence. Jonathan Jones hit the bar with a snap shot, Nadat got to a Rathbone cross at the near post but the keeper saved easily, Matt Brown got to the bye line and his cross along the goal line was just asking to be put away. Luke Edwards made a great tackle as Callum Thompson looked likely to score. Nadat made a great move to take two players away from Brown who pulled his shot wide. Brown was back again shooting wide with two players in better positions screaming for the ball. Gumery shot just over with his first touch, Danny Tymon and Dean Rathbone combined to release Nadat but his goal bound effort was cleared off the line. Edwards blocked another effort from Thompson after a neat back pass by Jones. Tymon forced the defender to pass back to the keeper who picked up, free kick but Leon Weller's close range effort went well wide. A Shepshed short corner found Rob Mulonga and his looping shot came back off the bar and then Gumery's shot was parried by the visitors keeper and then cleared off the line as Nadat prepared to tap home.

Next up is the very difficult trip to Stourport! Coleshill have never beaten the Swifts, 3 defeats and a draw, and they are unbeaten in the last five league games. Town will have to be at their best but confidence is at an all time high so they fear no-one!

Paul Casey and his men created history Tuesday night as Coleshill Town won their 100th Midland Football Alliance fixture, moving into 3rd in the league table in the process. The Colemen battled valiantly to produce their eighth win in a row as they conquered Shepshed Dynamo 2-0 at Pack Meadow. Goals on either side of half time from new addition Jordan Nadat and winger Ryan Nash ensured Casey’s men took the 3 points and their 19th league win of the season, a new record for Coleshill in terms of wins in a single season.

Prior to the game, concerns were raised with regards to the fitness of back four that had helped produce 5 clean sheets in the club’s previous 7 games. Will Worthington was out injured so Ashley Bradshaw was called up to the starting eleven and with the ever reliable centre back Jack Hulin being rested, Danny Douglas partnered up with Luke Edwards at the heart of the Coleshill defence.

Despite these major absentees, Coleshill started the game well. They threatened the Shepshed goal twice in the opening ten minutes with two realistic opportunities from the Coleshill front men. Firstly, Matt Brown poked the ball just inches wide of the post and then on 9 minutes, Jordan Nadat unleashed a beautiful strike only for it to go just over Thacker’s bar. Rob Mulonga then attempted to take the lead for Dynamo down the other end however his shot was superbly saved by Paul Hathaway.

From watching the opening half an hour of the game, it was clear to see Coleshill were slow out the blocks against a motivated Shepshed Dynamo side who were seeking opportunities with every chance they got. Dynamo had brought a large following with them to the game and it was a rare moment when the away section of Pack Meadow was silent.

However, on 41 minutes that moment came. Coleshill Town were awarded a free kick deep in the half of the Shepshed half on the left hand side. Dean Rathbone stepped up and curled in a fantastic delivery and the ball was touched home by new signing Jordan Nadat who scored his second goal in as many appearances. The atmosphere in the ground changed dramatically and the goal left the away fans stunned in silence.

Thompson then had an optimistic effort for the visitors just before half time however his powerful drive went wide. Coleshill went into the interval in the lead however Shepshed Dynamo proved they were certainly no pushovers by giving the division’s form side everything they had.

As the sides came out for the second half, it appeared as if Coleshill were a changed team. The half time team talk from Paul Casey worked wonders for the Colemen and they doubled their advantage on 48 minutes after Shepshed Dynamo failed to clear another set-piece from the home side. Ryan Nash then poked the ball home to make it 2-0 to Coleshill Town.

Then on the 53rd minute, Dynamo decided to come to life again. Striker Jonathan Jones, who had been pretty quiet in the opening half, took a shot with venom however was denied by the woodwork. Matt Brown, in search of his 20th goal of the campaign, then had a couple of chances of his own for the hosts as he saw one shot just trickle wide of the post and the other one flash over on the hour mark.

With a little over 20 minutes to go, Dean Rathbone almost trebled the Colemen’s lead after a wonderful build up from the hosts, all the winger had to do was drill the ball home however Pritchard became Shepshed’s saviour stopping the ball from going in on the line. Controversy then struck in the final 15 minutes as Coleshill were fouled in the penalty area but were instead awarded an indirect free kick which was blazed wide by Weller.

Shepshed then struck the bar for a second time in this contest as Mulonga’s half volley was tipped on to the bar by skipper Paul Hathaway on 79 minutes. With the game then in its final 10 minutes, substitute Chris Gumery tried getting his name on the score sheet with a cracking effort however Thacker matched it with an emphatic save the keep the striker at bay.

When the full time whistle blew, it was official – Coleshill Town had won their 100th ever Midland Football Alliance game. This took them into 3rd in the league table just 7 points behind leaders Tividale and 3 behind second placed Quorn.

Following the club’s eighth consecutive victory, chairman Paul Billing commented on the club’s milestone win. Billing said “I always knew we would turn this club around because we’ve got good people running the club, back room staff are absolutely superb, so I always knew we would achieve a lot, we’ve done it probably two years earlier than I expected.”

Coleshill Town next play away at Stourport Swifts on Saturday 29th March 2014 with a kick off time of 15:00PM at Walshes Meadow.

Defeat on Tuesday night meant Shepshed have gone five games without a point in the Bakers Midland Football Alliance.

Despite having the lion share of the ball in the first half went into the break one down and a calamitous decision by the officials aided in killing off this league tie.

Shepshed started strongly and left the hosts resorting to the long ball clearance from the back. Rob Mulonga replacing Sam Cook threatened down the right in the first five minutes. Coleshill replied Barry Fitzharris finding Danny Tynon who fired wide on eleven minutes and a minute later Chris Lloyd's effort was over the top.

Shepshed continued to control the possession three minutes later Jonathan Jones back in the starting line up shot into Paul Hathaway and a minute later Connor Bennett combined with Steve Chaplin and Rob Mulonga but his ball across the box came to nothing.

On twenty minutes Rob McCormick slipped but Leon Weller was unable to take advantage. Shepshed restored the possession a minute later Jake Lever fired wide and two minutes later Mulonga moved it onto Jones but Alun Webb's effort also went wide.

With fifteen minutes remaining of the half the hosts began to gain a foothold in the match McCormick blocked Fitzharris's free kick and then on forty minutes after a foul on the edge of the box Fitzharris put the ball into the box and Tynon was on hand to slot passed Ryan Thacker to put Coleshill in front. Shepshed had the final chance of the half but Callum Thompson's shot went wide.

Three minutes into the second half Connor Bennett was deemed to have committed a foul on the edge of the box which looked like a clear challenge from the resultant free kick Fitzharris found Wellor to double The Colemen's lead.

Shepshed looked to respond on fifty two minutes Louis Guest's shot was deflected wide by Jones and two minutes later Jones shot rebounded off the cross bar. Shepshed continued to press and on Fifty six minutes Hathaway was alert to advance to deny Webb and two minutes later Steve Chaplin shot was blocked.

Coleshill then seemed to take Shepshed's fire out of them and could have extended their lead Tynon went close twice on sixty and again a minute later. Eight minutes later and the same player rounded Thacker but Luke Pritchard cleared off the line.

Shepshed searched for a way back into the game Chaplin found Jones on seventy six minutes but his effort was blocked and five minutes later Shepshed hit the woodwork again this time from Mulonga.

As the game came to a close the hosts were the nearest to adding to the scoreline Thacker Parrying their effort and Pritchard clearing.

After dominating first half play Shepshed were unable to convert possession into goal threatening chances and were undone by two set pieces.
