Wednesday 9th April 2014
Midland Alliance
Tipton Town 0 v 0 Coleshill Town
Attendance: 46.

Team: Paul Hathaway, Leon Weller, Ashley Bradshaw, Luke Edwards, Danny Douglas, Ryan Nash, Barry Fitzharris, Danny Tymon, Chris Gumery (Chris Lloyd), Matt Brown, Dean Rathbone. Subs not used Oliver Casey, Nick Ellis, Will Worthington, Connor Leek.

Coleshill still can't beat Tipton! Eleven attempts and only two draws to show for all the hard work. This was a poor game and both defences will have sore heads this morning as the ball boomed from end to end! Neither side deserved to win but either side could have won as chances came and went but that bit of quality necessary to actually put the ball in the back of the net was in short supply!

You can't fault the effort! Both sides went for it! The home team had the upper hand in the first half. Graham Ashton hit the post with a great strike from outside the box and they even had the ball in the net but off side was given, luckily for Coleshill! Former Town player Jordan Archer headed straight at Paul Hathaway and then Hathaway instinctively parried as a vicious cross was deflected by Luke Edwards. Coleshill's best chance came close to half time as Matt Brown left his marker for dead and brought a fine save from the home keeper.

Town started the second half much better and should have scored when Ryan Nash crossed for Chris Gumery to volley goalward but James Pemberton made another fine save. Dean Rathbone sent a bending shot just wide of the post then he repeated the move, this time having his closer effort saved by Pemberton. In reply Henley volleyed wide and Archer headed over from a good position and the same player was even closer when he lobbed the advancing Hathaway only to see his effort go just off target. Chris Lloyd, on as a sub for Gumery, almost snatched the points but pulled his shot wide, a great chance! Coleshill so nearly had an unlikely hero in the dying seconds as Lloyds run and cross was met by left full back Ashley Bradshaw but his header went straight into the arms of Pemberton.

Loughborough University up next at Pack Meadow and a chance to redeem a poor second half performance at the Uni ground!
