MATCH REPORT
Tividale haven't quite won the league yet, but they're going to! They are the bench mark! The best, strongest, most experienced, most consistent team in the league and with only three defeats, a better team than last seasons champions Stratford, and will do ok in the level above!
So, how did Coleshill do against a side they need to emulate if they have ambitions on winning the league title, well not too good actually. Tividale have a system that works for them! They are big, strong and get the ball forward very quickly. No messing about and sometimes not very nice to watch but effective. Then they work their socks off and give the opposition no time on the ball. Instead of playing their own game Town tried to match them and it worked to some extent in the first half with Dale's first goal coming completely against the run of play, but as the game wore on Tividale took control and Coleshill never looked likely to score! Twenty Two goal man Matt Brown must have been praying for a through ball to run onto instead of constantly trying to out jump two giant centre backs!
This was Coleshill's 250th game in the Alliance and the Colemen started really well! Ryan Nash's run and cross field pass found Dean Rathbone who cut inside and saw his shot deflected for a corner. Chris Lloyd forced another corner from a jincking run which the home keeper dropped but there was no one on hand to take advantage. Another Nash ball found Matt Brown who went past the outcoming keeper but couldn't convert from a tight angle. For the home side Nathan Waite had a couple of shots and Mark Smith headed a corner over the bar but when Leigh Downing received the ball on the edge of the box his clinical finish left Paul Hathaway helpless! 1-0 to the champions elect! Coleshill didn't buckle and still created chances! Lloyd got between the central defenders and chipped the keeper but his effort went wide of the post. A powerful run by Danny Tymon found Brown who's shot was saved at full stretch by Beech in the home goal. Rathbone fed Lloyd who got past his marker before passing back to Rathbone who saw his goalbound shot deflected for a corner as Town finished the half well in the game!
The second half was an anti-climax and not very entertaining! Tividale never gave Coleshill an inch but weren't testing Hathaway either until they increased their lead from a corner that Mark Smith headed home unchallenged. Downing had the ball in the net from a free kick but Hathaway didn't even attempt to save the in-direct dead ball! Waite held the ball up well and fed Jason Chilton who forced Hathaway into a great save from a powerful shot. Chris Fields skimmed the bar with a cross cum shot and then lobbed Hathaway but the effort went wide of the post. Connor Leek hit a left foot shot well wide in a rare Coleshill effort at goal but Downing's second goal put the game beyond the visitors. There looked little danger as Hathaway came to collect a long punt but he dropped the ball at the feet of Downing who gleefully rolled the ball into an empty net! The last effort of the game was a free kick from fully 30 yards that Brown frustratingly sent well over the bar.
A fabulous season is coming to an end and a top five place is still very much on the cards but on this showing a tilt at the title is still a long way off!

One Point
by Leon Murray
The headline says it all. Tividale require just one point from their last four league games to be crowned 2013/2014 Midland Football Alliance champions.
This is definitely the side that just keeps giving. After two wins on Tuesday and Thursday of last week and an energy-sapping draw against second place Boldmere St Michaels on Saturday, the side produced possibly the best 45 minutes of an amazing season to despatch the form team at the moment, Coleshill Town. Yet no one could have seen it coming as the visitors absolutely flew out of the blocks.
Their first chance came within seconds of the kick off as the ball was played out to winger Dean Rathbone and his whipped in cross was headed away by defender Andy Parsons which was also Tividale's first touch of the ball. Tividale then showed a glimpse of how dangerous they can be on the counter attack when on 2 minutes Nathan Waite held off his marker Danny Douglas and laid the ball back to Jason Chilton, but his shot was comfortably saved by Coleshill keeper Paul Hathaway. The action was coming thick and fast and at the other end Coleshill's Chris Lloyd beat Parsons and put in another dangerous cross but this time it was Luke Paskin who headed clear. Coleshill's pressure was now relentless and they will feel very hard done by to have gone behind through a rare home attack on 10 minutes, when again Waite spun off Douglas, laid the ball back to Leigh Downing and he took two touches before firing into Hathaway's bottom right hand corner.
Coleshill were not going to let the setback affect them and Lloyd will feel he should have done better with a Ryan Nash through ball, choosing to try and lob Tividale keeper Tim Beech instead of putting his foot through it and his effort went well wide. Tividale were now even struggling to keep hold of the ball and when they did they were giving it away cheaply and this was summed up when Tividale's Mr Cool, Sam Williams, gave away possession in the middle of the park and Coleshill striker Matt Brown latched onto it but his shot on the run went straight into Beech's midriff. In the last piece of action of a half that Tividale were a goal up, but a distant second best, Brown again fired in an effort that was deflected wide.
By the look on the faces of the Tividale management team as they came off at half time you got the feeling that the home dressing was not going to be a place for the fainthearted
Half Time: Tividale FC 1-0 Coleshill Town FC
We may never know what was actually said at half time but whatever they said worked. They also made a change bringing on Mitchell Plows at left back for the jaded youngster Zac Foster.
Tividale were a different team in the second half and on 52 minutes Ryan Winwood won a corner but injured himself in the process, and had to be replaced by Michael Wardle. From the corner taken by Downing captain Mark Smith headed it down and into the net. Now the free flowing football that the home supporters have been used to started to come back and on 78 minutes a brilliant move ended with a Waite and Chilton one-two, but Chilton's shot was parried away by Hathaway. Tividale were now in total control and from the corner by Downing, Paskin headed over. A minute later wide man Chilton (now given the freedom to attack with the reliable Plows behind him) again was in the thick of the action. This time he was played in by the back to normal Williams with a sublime volleyed pass and his driven cross flashed inches past the post just beyond the lunging Downing and Waite. Saturdays goal scorer Chris Field also tried to get on the score sheet again with an audacious lob from 20 yards that Hathaway could only watch drop agonisingly wide of the far post.
Coleshill were now a beaten side and could only show rare glimpses of their first half form. One of their rare attacks again fizzled out with a Brown effort not troubling Beech. Tividale added a third in injury time when the luckless Hathaway made possibly his only mistake of the game, failing to clear his lines and allowing Downing to nip in, rob him of the ball and roll it into an empty net for his second and Tividale's third.
Full Time : Tividale FC 3-0 Coleshill Town FC
Definitely a very harsh score line on a Coleshill side who possibly dominated 45 minutes against us like no other team has this season, and should have been in front at half time with the amount of chances they made. While on the other hand we rode our luck, scored against the run of play, re-grouped in the second half and ran out winners
Tividale Team :- Tim Beech, Andrew Parsons, Zac Foster (Mitchell Plows), Chris Field, Mark Smith, Luke Paskin, Ryan Winwood (Michael Wardle), Sam Williams, Nathan Waite, Leigh Downing, Jason Chilton.
