Monday 21st April 2014
Midland Alliance
Coventry Sphinx 0 v 6 Coleshill Town
Scorers: Matt Brown 2, Chris Lloyd 2, Ryan Nash 2.
Attendance: 280.

Team: Paul Hathaway, Leon Weller, Ashley Bradshaw, Danny Douglas, James Williams, Ryan Nash, Barry Fitzharris, Danny Tymon, Chris Lloyd, Matt Brown, Dean Rathbone. Subs Oliver Casey, Danny Brain, Nick Ellis, Elison Porter, Will Worthington.

After their biggest defeat of the season on Saturday at home to Wulfrunians, Coleshill then recorded their biggest win of the season just 48 hours later on Bank Holiday Monday. This was also the biggest win ever over Sphinx in a local derby that goes back nearly 20 years.

Putting Saturday's disappointment down as a one off, Coleshill were rampant and were 4-0 up by half time and even had the luxury of missing a penalty. Matt Brown scored after 18 minutes, then two in two from Chris Lloyd on 23 and 25 minutes was followed by a goal by Ryan Nash on 34 minutes. Lloyd had the chance to complete a first half hat-trick with a penalty one minute before the break but his effort was saved.

Ryan Nash made in five on the hour mark and Matt Brown completed the scoring with his 24th of the season on 67 minutes.

Coleshill moved up to third in the league table but 4th placed Highgate have a game in hand. Third place is still a possibility but the lowest they can finish is 5th, a just reward for a fabulous season! Just one more record would be most welcome on Saturday when Town entertain Tipton in the last game of the season! Coleshill have never beaten Tipton in eleven meetings! Three points may not make much difference in the final tally but a win would take the "Monkey Off The Back", and would mean the Colemen could start next season capable of beating anyone!
