FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round
Coleshill Town 10 v 0 Nuneaton Griff

Attendance: 92.

Jonathan Jones and Stephen Barrett awarded opposition Man Of The Match.

This is by far Coleshill's best ever result in the FA Cup. Their previous highest win was 5-1 and this was achieved twice, against Lincoln United in 2010/11 and Brocton 2011/12.

Coleshill were almost the biggest winners in the Extra Preliminary Round of the 2014/15 FA Cup as they beat local rivals Nuneaton Griff 10-0 but Surrey side Molesey beat Sussex based Haywards Heath Town 11-0 to claim that title.

Coleshill will now play Bromsgrove Sporting on Saturday 30th August in the Preliminary Round as they overcame Bewdley Town 2-0 in front of a crowd of 328.

SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
Poor Griff Thumped By In-Form Coleshill
Coleshill Town romped to one of the day's biggest wins in the FA Cup as they beat Nuneaton Griff 10-0. Jonathan Jones headed Coleshill into a 16th minute lead at Packmeadow and from then on it was all one-way traffic. A fine double from Danny Douglas and further efforts from Tom Weale and Shane Benjamin gave the Midland Premier League side a five goal lead at the break. Danny Tymon and Dean Withers then further added to the scoreline with substitute Simeon Cobourne helping himself to a super ten minute hat trick.

COLESHILL HERALD WROTE
It's a perfect ten for Coleshill as Griff men are blown away

COLESHILL Town showed their ruthless streak as they smashed Nuneaton Griff 10-0 on Saturday.

It took until the 24th minute for Coleshill to take the lead as a long throw into the box by Tom Weale allowed Daniel Douglas race in late for an easy header that gave Dave Watson no chance.

Watson saved well from Shane Benjamin on the resumption but 10 minutes later a Griff attack was broken up and the ball swept to the left where Barry Fitzharris delivered nicely for Douglas to again pick his spot with an unchallenged header.

Benjamin blasted over another good chance and, at the other end, Jake Brown was inches over with a free-kick.

Four proved lucky again as on 44 minutes, the Colemen struck on the break and former Barwell striker Weale went through on his own to fire a good shot just inside the post.

From the kick-off, Coleshill regained the ball and a swift break and centre from the left by former Bedworth United midfielder Dean Rathbone was converted by Benjamin at the far post.

After the interval, Coleshill started strongly and Watson pushed away a shot from Benjamin.

However, on 53 minutes, poor defending handed Danny Tyman an easy finish.

The game settled for a spell with Griff at last slightly on top. Moore had a good sight of goal but lashed his shot wide.

A raft of young substitutions for both sides set up the final 20 minutes but it was Coleshill who came out of it best.

On 75 minutes, Griff gave the ball away in midfield and Simeon Cobourne cut through a static defence to finish.

The visiting heads were well and truly down by now and four minutes later it was young Cobourne who again raced through to slot home past a stunned Watson.

Griff then produced a fine move through the middle with Moore netting past Chris Jay but the linesman's flag went up for offside.

Substitute Cobourne got his hat-trick on 85 minutes with a tap-in as Griff did defend a quick break but a rebound fell kindly for him.

In time-added on another substitute, Dean Withers, collected wide left and moved inside his marker into the box where he completed the scoring with a low shot across Watson.
