Match Report
Coleshill played their "Get Out Of Jail" card and managed to snatch a draw from a game that looked well beyond them. Town reached the break 2-0 down and although Westfields looked a very good side, this was Coleshill's poorest 45 minutes of the season so far. The visitors deservedly went ahead on 8 minutes when Zac Sirrell saw a powerful shot saved by home keeper Chris Jay, but the ball fell nicely for Jamie Cuss who found the net with an equally powerful shot. Coleshill just couldn't get going and they went further behind just before the half hour. Westfields had worked the ball well into the box but Coleshill looked to have seen out the danger but Joel Edwards picked up a loose ball and hit a shot that took a deflection, wrong footing Jay, and ending up in the net.

Coleshill were much better in the second half but still looked second best to an impressive visiting side. With time running out Luke Edwards headed home from a Tom Weale long throw in the 89th minute for what looked like a consolation goal but two minutes into added time the scores were level. Substitute Simeon Cobourne had given Town new impetus and his run and pass found Weale in the box. There looked to be little danger but Weale was took out virtually on the bye line and the referee pointed to the spot, probably the only decision in the whole afternoon that went Coleshill's way! Shane Benjamin thumped the ball into the net for his 9th goal of the season. Unbelievably both sides then had chances to win the game as five extra minutes were found from who knows where! But a Coleshill winner at this stage would have been an injustice to a travelling side who will surely be in the mix for the title come the end of the season!

WESTFIELDS HIT BY TWO LATE GOALS

Westfields suffered heartache for the second successive away game when, following their 3-2 away reverse at Quorn 2 weeks ago when they fell to a last minute defeat, they were again guilty of poor defending in the last few minutes of the game on Saturday at Coleshill Town when leading 2-0 with 89 minutes played they allowed the home team to gain a point with 2 goals in the 89th and the 92nd minutes to give them a draw from a match they should have won.

Westfields’ first-half display was superb as they pulled Coleshill to pieces as twin strikers Deqwon Eubanks and Nathaniel Lewars worked the Coleshill defence and in only the 10th minute Eubanks set up a chance for Jamie Cuss who rifled home a rising shot from 14 yards to give Westfields a dream start.

Westfields with both Joel Edwards and Sam Gwynne overlapping well were causing the Coleshill defence big problems and in the 30th minute Joel Edwards stabbed the ball home from 6 yards to increase the Westfields’ lead. Then just before half time, good work by Zac Sirrell put Deqwon Eubanks through on goal but his fierce drive was brilliantly saved by Jay in the Coleshill goal.

Little had been seen of the Coleshill attack but after the interval the home side picked up the game and began to get into the game and put the Westfields defence under pressure and Joel Edwards made a superb goal-line clearance, then Gwynne in the Westfields goal saved well from Shane Benjamin.

Coleshill mounted strong pressure in a bid to get back into the game and with the final minutes ticking away Westfields’ defence failed to take the pressure when Phil Glover conceded a throw-in and the Coleshill long throw-in was not cleared and as the ball bobbled about Luke Edwards pounced to pull a goal back.

Then deep into injury time Coleshill were awarded a penalty when Phil Glover brought down Tom Wheale, and Shane Benjamin sealed a late point for Coleshill with the resultant penalty kick for a 2-2 draw.
