COLESHILL HERALD WROTE
Coleshill Town hit goal trail as they enjoy wins in league and cup

FOUR goals from Shane Benjamin fired Coleshill to an emphatic win as they ended a run of two straight defeats.

Coleshill piled on the pressure from the off and took the lead on 11 minutes as Craig Milligan crossed for Matty Brown to head home.

The home side went close again on 16 minutes as intricate passing between Tom Weale and Benjamin put the former through on goal but he shot wide.

Heath Hayes rarely threatened while Coleshill continued to dominate.

They made it 2-0 on 44 minutes when a right wing corner was swung in by Milligan and Benjamin glanced header at the near post.

The second half continued in the same manner.

It became 3-0 after 50 minutes when a corner to the far post was kept alive by Danny Douglas.

He passed to Luke Edwards, who crossed the ball back across goal for Benjamin to nod past the keeper for 3-0.

As Coleshill kept on pressing, Douglas crashed an effort off the top of the bar from a good Weale cross.

Coleshill scored their fourth on 55 minutes as a Dean Rathbone cross was headed back across goal by Brown and Benjamin was on hand to side-foot home from eight yards to complete his hat-trick.

A minute later, Coleshill gave the ball away too easily in midfield and Heath Hayes scored through a long-range shot from Adam Langley to make it 4-1.

It didn't take Coleshill long to get back on top and a ball out of defence was well held up by Benjamin.

He played Brown in down the right of the box and he unselfishly squared the ball to the on-rushing midfielder Rathbone, who calmly side-footed home from 18 yards after 60 minutes.

Coleshill competed the rout on 66 minutes as Rathbone cut in from the left but his shot hit the post, only for Benjamin to follow up to score with an easy tap in.

A spate of substitutions by both sides in the next 10 minutes disrupted the flow of the game.

Simeon Cobourne came on and could have easily scored but several shots went wide.

With 10 minutes left, Chris Lloyd replaced Brown and he was denied by another good save from Burns in the Heath Hayes goal but Coleshill had already done all they needed to.

Coleshill bounced back from two consecutive defeats to blow away Heath Hayes with Shane Benjamin the headliner, with four goals, to take his personnel tally to 18 for the season, and Coleshill up to 4th in the table.

When was the last time someone scored 4 in a league game for Coleshill I hear you ask? Well, no one in the Midland Football League Premier (Midland Alliance), so a first for Mr Shane Benjamin! James Dance was the last player to score four in a league game back on the 26th April 2008 away to Brereton Social in a 7-1 win. This was Coleshill's penultimate game in their Midland Combination Premier Championship winning season! Neil Kitching and Matty Robinson also scored four goals in league games that season, both against Continental Star!

MATCH REPORT

Coleshill coming off the back of 2 defeats were up for this game against a lowly Heath Hayes and as early as the 4th minute Shane Benjamin was put through by a long ball over the Heath Hayes defence but he delayed his shot and a defender got back to block his shot.

Coleshill started to pile on the pressure and the first corner on 7 mins was punched clear by Burns in the Heath Hayes goal.

However after 11 mins the pressure paid off as a good one two in centre midfield sent Barry Fitzharris down the right but his cross was to long however Craig Milligan picked up the ball and crossed from the other side of the area for Matty Brown to head over the keeper into the net. 1-0.

The next chance came on 16 mins with intricate passes between Tom Weale and Shane Benjamin put Tom Weale through on goal but he shot wide.

It was all Coleshill now but they just could not score with Burns in the Heath Hayes goal making several good saves.

The break through eventually came after 44 mins when a right wing corner was swung in by Craig Milligan and Shane Benjamin glanced header at the near post past the keeper.
HT 2-0.

The 2nd half started much the same with Coleshill on top from the start and after 50 mins a corner to the far post was kept alive by Danny Douglas he passed to Luke Edwards to cross back across goal for Shane Benjamin to nod past the keeper for 3-0. It was all Coleshill now and a powerful header by Danny Douglas crashed off the top of the bar from a good Tom Weale cross from the left.

We didn't have to wait long for the next goal and on 55mins Coleshill scored their 4th when a Dean Rathbone cross was headed back across goal by Matty Brown for Shane Benjamin to side foot home from 8 yards to complete his hat trick.

But only a minute later Coleshill gave the ball away to easily in midfield and Heath Hayes scored with a long range shot from Adam Langley hit the top corner of the net giving Chris Jay no chance to save it. 4-1

However it didn't take Coleshill long to get back on top and a long ball out of defence was well held up by Shane Benjamin, he played Matty Brown down the right of the box and he unselfishly squared the ball to the on rushing Dean Rathbone to calmly side foot home from 18 yards after 60 mins 5-1.

Ryan Nash replaced Craig Milligan on 63 mins and Dean Rathbone was moved to the left side. This paid dividends 3 mins later as Rathbone cut in from the left but his shot hit the post only for Shane Benjamin to follow up to score with an easy tap in. 6-1.

A VIEW FROM THE OTHER SIDE
A Match Report taken from Heath Hayes web site
http://www.heathhayesfc.co.uk/club/5999 ... rt/5666567

Heath Hayes warmed up in disapointing fashion for the visit of STOKE CITY to their COPPICE COLLIERY GROUND on TUES night for their STAFFORDSHIRE SENIOR CUP TIE, collapsing under constant second half pressure from a rampant COLESHILL side.

After playing quite well first half they were unfortunate to go in at half time 2-0 down, firstly MATTY BROWN'S lucky looping header could have gone anywhere but found it's way into the net, and then in 1st half injury time keeper TOM BURNS made a hash of a corner kick which was scrambled home.

The second half was a one sided affair with COLESHILL showing why they are up there challanging for the title.

SHANE BENJAMIN, the leagues leading goalscorer, finishing the game with a total off 4 goals, DEAN RATHBONE getting the other.

On the consulation side ADAM LANGLEY got perhaps the best goal of the game for HAYES netting from 12 yards.
