Well! How did that happen!!!!! From a position of complete superiority at half time, Coleshill saw the chance of a Cup Final for the first time in 32 years slip away!

Town had a single goal deficit to overcome from the first leg and that was wiped out with less than four minutes on the clock! A Rob Evans long throw was headed on at the near post by Danny Douglas and Shane Benjamin was there to power home a header from just inside the six yard box! By half time it was 3-0 on the night, 3-1 on aggregate, and the visitors were deflated, dejected and beaten! On 17 minutes a Craig Milligan corner came out to Benjamin who rocketed an unstoppable shot straight down the middle of the goal that keeper Froggart had no chance with! This was Benjamin's 39th goal of the season and I hope he gets over the 40 mark before the season end! On 34 minutes Coleshill were home and dry with a solo goal from Tom Weale. A great run by Ryan Nash down the right was passed inside to Weale, he showed quick feet to make room on the edge of the box then sent a looping shot over the diving keeper and into the net!

To give Rocester great credit, they came out fighting in the second half but Coleshill looked comfortable and did what they have done all season and defended well! But a certain man in black decided he wanted to be the main attraction and after a first half of some questionable decisions, he excelled himself in the second 45 by ignoring elbows, push's in the back, kicking players on the ground and gave petty free kicks and yellow cards, a penalty and sent two Coleshill players off! Incredible!

Simeon Cobourne went down in the box, a clear push in the back, but no penalty! Benjamin shot just wide of the far post, Milligan shot over and Danny Douglas had a header cleared off the line as Town looked for the goal that would kill the game off, but it wouldn't come!

With twenty minutes remaining Scott Stanniland, who should not have been on the field, took a free kick wide on the left. The ball skidded low threw a sea of legs and Nick Ward managed to guide the ball into the net! Game On! Ten minutes later a long punt up field was flicked on by Andrew Mottishead and Josh Williams went down under the challenge of Oliver Casey! Penalty and a red card! Unbelievable! Stanniland, who I repeat should not have been on the field, took the spot kick to level the scores on aggregate!

In the first leg Rocester got a goal in front and then defended like mad men and Coleshill could not find a way through! So, with the visitors now winning on away goals, they packed their defence and invited Coleshill to break them down! They couldn't! Deqwon Ebanks had only been on the field a matter of a few minutes when, in complete frustration, he kicked the ball at/toward a player he had allegedly fouled, and he saw red as well! Coleshill pushed everyone forward and lumped the ball into the penalty area but the visitors repelled everything that was thrown at them leaving Coleshill frustrated and dejected! So near but so far!

I must repeat the disclaimer on the home page of this web site! This is an independent site that compiles the history of Coleshill Town Football Club and has nothing to do with the main club. The reports and opinions are that of the moderator and not the football club. If the football club decide to use the reports on their web site that is entirely up to them! Personally, I would ban that referee from ever setting foot in the ground again!!!!!

COLESHILL HERALD WROTE
Coleshill Town stunned in cup semi clash
COLESHILL blew their big league cup chance after looking well set to reach the final after a dominant first half.

Trailing 1-0 from the opening leg, Coleshill stormed into a 3-0 lead by the break.

But they allowed Rocester to fight back to 3-2 after half-time and, as a result, the visitors secured a place in the final at the Banks's Stadium courtesy of away goals.

Town got off to a flyer, scoring with less than four minutes on the clock.

A Rob Evans long throw was headed on at the near post by Danny Douglas and Shane Benjamin was on hand to power home a header from just inside the six-yard box.

It became 2-0 on 17 minutes as a Craig Milligan corner came out to Benjamin who rocketed an unstoppable shot straight down the middle of the goal for his 39th of the season.

On 34 minutes, Coleshill appeared home and dry thanks to a solo goal from Tom Weale.

Ryan Nash went on a good run down the right and passed inside to Weale, who showed quick feet to make room on the edge of the box before sending a looping shot over the diving keeper and into the net.

Rocester came out fighting in the second half but Coleshill responded and Simeon Cobourne was also denied a penalty.

Benjamin shot just wide of the far post, Milligan shot over and Danny Douglas saw a header cleared off the line as Town looked for the goal that would kill the game off.

Then, with 20 minutes remaining, Scott Stanniland took a free-kick wide on the left and the ball skidded low through a sea of legs and Nick Ward managed to guide the ball into the net.

Ten minutes later, a long punt up field was flicked on by Andrew Mottishead and Josh Williams went down under the challenge of Oliver Casey.

The referee controversially awarded a penalty and a red card. Stanniland took the spot kick to level the scores on aggregate.

Coleshill pressed forward in an attempt to break them down but they could not.

Then, Deqwon Ebanks, who had only been on the field a matter of a few minutes saw red as well to cap a miserable night for the Colemen.
