With the end of the season in sight, and several players missing due to either injury or work commitments, this was the game Coleshill needed! Town romped to a 5-0 win but never got out of second gear, could have scored more than the five and the home team had two chances all game, one was well saved by Chris Jay and the other hit the post with the last kick of the game!

With Walsall Wood's defeat to Dunkirk, Town now need just two more points to guarantee 3rd place and five more points for the runners up spot with four games to go. But Town have now surpassed last season's total points haul of 78 and went over the ton mark with League goals!

Literally nothing happened in the first five minutes but Coleshill took the lead from a Craig Milligan corner as Danny Douglas's header was cleared off the line but Ricky Cutting was on hand to force the ball home. It was 2-0 on 21 minutes when a Tom Weale through ball was left by the off side Cutting for the onrushing Milligan who headed the ball over the home keeper who had come off his line. Hayes best player Daniel Scragg shot from distance and wasn't too far away! Home keeper Wiggins got a finger tip to a Ryan Nash effort before Cutting lobbed the keeper but saw his effort bounce up onto the bar! On the stroke of half time Pickering got free of the defence and smashed a shot that brought out the best of Town keeper Chris Jay!

The second half started as quietly as the first but Simeon Cobourne should have opened his account when bearing down on goal but Wiggins saved with his feet but Cobourne was back minutes later when he latched on to a Jay goal kick that eluded the home defence and confidently lobbed the ball into the net. Cutting missed a great chance when in front of goal from a Douglas flick on, then on 71 minutes Town scored their 100th goal of the season when Cobourne beat both keeper and defender to a James Williams through ball to toe poke the ball into the net. Douglas headed a Dean Rathbone cross inches wide, substitute Conal Powell tried to bend the ball round the keeper but Wiggins got a finger tip to the effort then on 81 minutes a Tom Weale corner was headed back across goal at the far post by Luke Edwards but Danny Douglas got the final touch that took the ball into the net. Pickering had the final chance of the game but his strike came back off the post.

COLESHILL HERALD WROTE
Double league success reaffirms Coleshill's top-two place

COLESHILL continued their impressive season with a thumping of bottom of the league Heath Hayes in midweek, writes Scott Smith.

Town edged ahead in just the fifth minute as Rickie Cutting tapped home from virtually on the goal-line after a corner had caused confusion in the box.

Although goalkeeper Chris Jay was called into a smart save soon afterwards, the visitors doubled their lead in the 22nd minute when a ball through found Craig Milligan, who headed home over the advancing Hayes goalkeeper.

Eleven minutes into the second half it was 3-0 as Simeon Colbourne raced clear and lobbed the home keeper before repeating the trick in the 71st minute to double his tally.

The scoring was completed nine minutes from time as Danny Douglas' looping header at the back post defeated everyone and found the bottom corner of the net.

Hayes almost grabbed a consolation goal with the last kick of the game only for Joe Pickering to see his effort come back off the post.
