COLESHILL HERALD WROTE
Coleshill Town lost 3-1 to top of the table Coventry Sphinx. With an hour gone and the score 0-0 Town could consider themselves unlucky not to be at least two goals ahead as they had taken the game to Sphinx and easily had the better of the play. But following a long delay due to an injury to a Coventry player which needed the attendance of an ambulance, Coleshill lost concentration and soon found themselves a goal down. The visitors hit back almost immediately when they were awarded a penalty for a foul on Mitchell Thompson, Frank Woodburn calmly converted the kick. But the momentum of the game had changed. Coleshill were a different side to the one that had contested the first half and were beginning to be overhauled by the home side and it came as no surprise when they conceded a further two goals in the final quarter to finish the game pointless and dejected. Manager Colin Strong remained upbeat. “Due to injuries, holidays and suspensions, I still haven’t played my preferred side and we haven’t been outplayed by anyone yet. We have played some good football but we need a break, a piece of luck to lift the confidence of the players and the results will follow.”
