Coleshill Keep Up Their Good Form

Coleshill maintained their recent good form with a convincing win over high-flying Romulus. Romulus had the better of the first half and Greg Allen had to make a good save to stop the visitors taking an early lead. The second half was only minutes old when from a throw in the ball bounced awkwardly over the Romulus defence. Duwayan Mardenborough, making his debut after signing from Thimblemill this week, pounced on the loose ball to drill Coleshill into the lead. The next 15 minutes saw Coleshill dominate. Mardenborough had an effort cleared off the line before Ray Scandrett cleverly placed his shot into the net following a corner. From another corner the same player hit the post with the keeper stranded. As Coleshill sat back, Romulus came back into the game but the home side comfortably soaked up the pressure and had the better chances to increase the score line on the break. With 15 minutes to go, the tiring Mardenborough was replaced by fellow debutant Carl Mitchell and he scored with his first touch as he finished off a run and cross by Mitchell Thompson.
