COLESHILL HERALD WROTE
Town Bounce Back In Style At Shirley
It was important that Coleshill bounced back following a midweek defeat, but a visit to Shirley Town was never going to be easy. Both teams were missing some of their key players, but never the less still managed to create an exciting game. Coleshill dominated the game from the off, but were denied the lead in controversial circumstances when Anthony McManus hit the bar and the ball appeared to bounce over the line, but the referee waved play on. It took a while, but the first goal arrived, in time added on to the first half. Duwayan Mardenborough was the man of the moment. After the half time interval Shirley began to get more into the game, and had a couple of long range efforts, but Coleshill keeper Greg Allen didn’t really have to make a serious save all match. Super sub Carl Mitchell again came off the bench to score with his first touch. Youngster James Connor came close to increasing the lead on two occasions.
