COLESHILL HERALD WROTE
Coleshill's championship challenge suffered a set back when the were beaten by second placed Thimblemill on Saturday. Town maintained their status of top dogs, but Thimblemill are closing in, just three points behind and two games in hand. Thimblemill had the better of the opening exchanges and hit the post early on before taking the lead on ten minutes. A hopefull ball was hit into the Coleshill area and keeper Greg Allen came to catch but as he was challenged by a Thimblemill striker, the ball went through the Coleshill stopper's hands and into an empty net. With everyone expecting a free kick the referee pointed to the centre spot and Thimblemill took a fortunate but well deserved lead. Coleshill's defence always looked suspect against a physical but speedy front line and they were relieved to hear the whistle for the interval with Thimblemill failing to increase their advantage. With Manager Colin Strong's vociferous team talk ringing in their ears, the situation should have improved but within three minutes of the re-start Coleshill were 3-0 down. Strong changed the formation to three up front in an effort to get back into the game and although Coleshill began to have more possession they never really looked likely to reduce the deficit. But on 66 minutes Coleshill were given a consolation when the referee awarded a penalty for an innocuous looking challenge on Paul Burns. The midfielder took the spot kick himself and scored, a reward for going through the pain barrier with a suspected broken rib received in the mid-week game with Alvis.

HERALD ALSO WROTE
Town Bid To Bounce Back Against Powermen

Coleshill Town will bid to bounce back to form this week-end when they play host to local rivals Hams Hall. Title chasing Town's promotion push hit a glitch last week-end when their nine game winning streak was brought to an abrupt end at home to second placed Thimblemill Rec. Town remain on top of the table by three points but Thimblemill have two games in hand on them and victory over Hams Hall is vital. But it won't be easy as the Powermen will be out to impress their new manager Mark Reeves when they come to Pack Meadow. Reeves took over as manager this week after former manager John Farnell stood down. But Colin Strong's men will start as favourites and will be looking to return to the kind of form that saw them storm to the top of the table. Town have a strong home record and they despatched Alvis easily last week. Alvis themselves had only lost two league games but Coleshill are proving formidable at home with only Racing Club Warwick (Senior Cup) going away with a victory.
